Our business takes us to interesting places. You all know the product called Prestik, don't you?

Yes, we are talking about that rubber type temporary adhesive which was launched many ages ago … 50+ years ago to be exact. Strip Curtain Solutions recently did work at their factory and we saw this pallet of Prestik at the plant. A wood pallet with a whole 303 kg of it - WOW! Especially if one considers that the finish product is sold in packages of 50g and 100g. That equates to between 3 000 and 6 000 sleeves!

The PVC strip curtain door which we went to install was at one of the main entrances to the factory. With roller shutter doors and industrial sectional doors, we always design, manufacture and install a steel beam across the entrance. The alternative would be to install on the outside of the building where the door would not interfere with the strip curtains. But that is never advisable.

The span of the door opening was 4.7 meter and the static weight of the strip curtains (complete kit) was 170 kg. We installed it as close as possible to the door and with the least interference with the mechanism. Most of the time you have a shaft to open and close the door. In this case, however, it was chain operated. We nevertheless opted to position the beam between the two chains.

This is a sizeable PVC strip curtain door. It is always advisable to check if your installer has a track record of similar installations for safety reasons.

This was our highest ever installation. The maximum height is 7.5 meters. The motivation for this installation was to control dust. This plant receives their input material by road (trucks) or rail (dry bulk carriages). The offloading of corn and wheat use to create a big cloud of dust.
If the dust just settled there it would not have been a problem, but the wind blows it to their neighbours. Well ... actually way past them into town. By reducing the size of the door opening and with the help of extractor fans we could control dust much better.
