As mentioned previously, I am in the process of creating a system with which I can weld my own bandsaw-blades. In this short movie I present the welding-power supply for welding the blade and there after annealing the blade. (Annealing is a process, whereby the blade is heated to a somewhat lesser temperature after welding and in particular the rate of cooling is carefully controlled, to SLOWLY cool. This avoids a hard, brittle welding-portion in the blade which would easily break).

This is a picture of the circuit board for a battery charge controller which I built for my wind turbines. Thank you to Hugh Piggott for publishing the plans for this circuit. It has functioned at our home in a robust manner for well over 10 years now :-)

These are pictures of a working Stirling Engine which I built plus / minus 25years ago. I came across the paper-pictures recently :-)

The first time I encountered one of these machines was in a museum. I became fascinated. The thing that is unique to the Stirling engine, which is sometimes revered to as a "hot air" engine, is that the working gas, which is in most cases air, remains contained within the engine. Its working-principle relies on the expansion of the air through heat, which then acts against the "power-piston" rotating the crank mounted on the shaft with the flywheel and then again on the contraction of the hot air when it is cooled by the radiator.

My model in the pictures worked nicely although it had a very modest power-output.

The keen observer might notice the flame providing the heat to the engine in the lower left-hand corner of the picture. Somewhat further to the right, the radiator that is made from aluminium and more to the top of the picture the power piston and cylinder connected to the crankshaft and flywheel.
