We've merged our EDes and FDes applications with the P&ID application into one powerful tool, now known as DDes for DesSoft Designer. This integration brings a host of advantages, making your project management smoother and more efficient.

We just released an update to the 1Des and P&ID subscriptions (V5.8.2306.27) and wanted to make sure you are familiar with the changes introduced in our most recent build. Enhancements to the Datasheet module and upgrading of our DGM drawing engines to the latest Framework in the 1Des and P&ID applications. Some issues are resolved like the licensing on local machines, PID DWG extraction User Tool, etc. And then we have enhanced the full setup kit to be able to do silent install for all our applications including their prerequisites. More detailed information was shared with our recent newsletter. DesSoft Datasheets Module Workflow for 1Des and P&ID.
In the Datasheets’ Bulk Datasheet builder, during the creation of new Excel Datasheet documents, the range name values that are in the Datasheet Templates are automatically Synced to the 1Des Database into the Datasheet table and the Excel file's equivalent cells are cleared in the newly created Datasheet document, so that the document is "new or clean" and is only containing the Range Names/Linked Database Fields and not their Values.

At this stage the User can decide what to do with the default data values by,
• clicking on "To Document" button, Bulk Datasheet builder will use the values in the Datasheet table and update each Excel document linked cells, thus keeping the default values.
• clicking on "To Database" button, Bulk Datasheet builder will finally clear all the values as it will now sync the empty values in the Excel document to the database and clear all the default values.
Therefore, it is important to decide if one wants to use the default values in the Template or to have a "clean start" for the current batch of Datasheets.

MS Excel Tip.
We have heard that some of our clients are saying that 1Des is throwing the leading zeros in the database away, when exporting our tables to a CSV or TXT file format.

We can confirm that it is not the case. The TIP here is not to "Double Click" on the exported file to open it in Excel, but rather to first open Excel and then go to "Data" and click on "From CSV" and open the exported file. This will maintain the leading zeros in Excel.

New DGM Viewer.
Our free DGM viewer has a new update. It can now open both .DGM (1Des, EDes and FDes native documents) and .DGMz (DesSoft P&ID diagrams) which are 2 different file formats build into this one viewer.

On top of the normal red-lining features, it can now add, hide and show comments to the open document.

When any changes are saved, it will flag the equivalent database record RED, if it can find the SQL database from the device where the Viewer is installed. After a successful database connection, it will create a Changes Workflow into the Workflow Manager and Workflow Client and a Workflow notification would be emailed to all associated emails for the selected Change Procedure.

Siemens User Tool

We added the Siemens User tool. The functionality is similar to the existing Unity and Allen Bradley PLC interface tools. It will use your configured Siemens function blocks and then allow you to assign it to a specific I/O type. After this, you will be able to generate Siemens PLC code that can be imported to Siemens PLC software from where the interlocking and sequencing can be configured, but the bulk of the programming work is done according to your configured PLC code block.

Datasheets & Other Excel Documents Modules

We replaced the Datasheets and Other Excel Documents modules. The new interface is in line with the new DDes application and is meant to be more productive for you as a user. It now opens multiple documents as new “Tabs” to allow easy comparing of information. Better filtering features were added to a few places among other things to the Datasheet Table Export section for better selection of the Datasheet table Fields.

Our proudly South African company is constantly growing our international client base. We have recently gained new clients in Hong Kong and Australia. We also have clients in the following countries: Australia, Botswana, DRC, Ghana, Guinea, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Switzerland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Our software has been used for projects in Canada, China and Russia, although we do not currently have clients in these countries. Thank you everyone for your support and spreading the word.

We have good news as our first enhancement feature for the year, Vendor Reference drawings, is available.
With more than one company doing different parts of a design or where complete autonomous systems are used in modern engineering, there is a need to be able to reference these additional drawings in your documentation pack.
We have now added the functionality in 1Des, i.e., FDes and EDes, to add and print vendor Reference Documents for a control Loop or for any Panel wherever it is the most appropriate for the design.
