Kgalagadi - about as remote as a site can get, this was atop the tallest sand dune in a dune field approaching the border of Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, accessible only by 4x4 vehicle.
The client is building a large Villa which required working loads of around 400kN per pile.
The 118mm diameter, 7.5mm thick Ductile Iron Piles were driven to refusal around 21m from working platform level.
There were approximately 50 no. piles required, which were completed in 8 working days. All piles were tied together with a bi-axially braced ground beam.

PRASA_EAST LONDON

Extremely tight access job, in all regards, with special regard to the overhead high voltage power lines. From establishment of the rig and material, to the actual pile driving.

Piles were driven to refusal into bedrock at 5-7 m below foundation blinding level, through uncontrolled back fill behind a retaining wall of 3 m.

Piles will support a very large security wall which will be installed above the retaining wall.

A difficult process made easy thanks to our ductile iron piling solution.

Fast. Simple. Safe.

These IPE 160 sections were driven into smaller pre-drilled holes, to pre-determind depths, they were then tested for tension and lateral load. We were hired to investigate the optimum founding depth and technique for pile supports on a 100 MW PV solar plant.

KWATINIDUBU _ FORT BEAUFORT

A great little job in Fort Beaufort, Eastern Cape, showcasing the Economic Establishment, Simple Installation Technique and Quality Control measures of the Ductile Iron Piling System.

Road over Rail Bridge, with a deep bedrock profile (14m), overlain by uncontrolled fill, with a ground water depth of around 6m would make for a difficult job with conventional piling techniques, but was actually simple, fast and safe using ductile iron piles.

The central Pier, was only 1m away from the active rail line, which had to be closed for the day that we worked in that area.

The outer row of piles in each Abutment were raked to cater for overturning moments created by back fill.

All piles were driven to refusal into Sandstone Bedrock.

BOSMANS CLUB _ STELLENBOSCH

Tight access, large boulders, shallow water table and 12m to bedrock, made a perfect proving ground for these piles. Driven through the large, occasionally massive boulders and finding refusal on shale bedrock, these ductile iron piles impressed all involved.

Outperforming a concrete raft foundation in terms of cost, ease of installation and overall project time saving, we were able to add massive value to this project.

LE ERMITAGE _ FRANSCHHOEK
A really challenging series of buildings to pile, in terms of access... Bedrock depth varied quite substantially between the front and back of the buildings, due to the cut terraces.
All piles were driven to refusal, and had some tough driving at times, through river boulders in an old re-routed riverbed.
