Why is your machine suddenly using more material?

A sudden jump in material use is rarely random. It usually points to a setting, sensor or wear issue, and the sooner you catch it, the less it costs you.

Here’s what to check:
1️⃣ Tension & tracking: is uneven tension or poor web alignment causing extra trim waste?
2️⃣ Coating / gauge weight: has it drifted above spec?
3️⃣ Splices & changeovers: are frequent startups or roll changes creating scrap?
4️⃣ Sensor calibration: have your gauge, weight or tension sensors drifted out of calibration?

Here's what to check before your next sharpening run:
1️⃣ Stone grit & type — matched to your blade material?
2️⃣ Blade condition — any chips or nicks before you start?
3️⃣ Grinding angle — does the bevel match the stone?
4️⃣ Speed & pressure — are you overheating the edge?

Why is my laminated web delaminating?

Delamination can be frustrating — especially when your machine appears to be running normally. Before changing your entire process, check the basics.

🔍 CHECK THESE 4 THINGS:

1️⃣ ADHESIVE PERFORMANCE
Is the adhesive compatible with your substrate and lamination conditions?

2️⃣ TEMPERATURE & PRESSURE
Are your adhesive, web and nip temperatures and pressures set correctly?

3️⃣ WEB CLEANLINESS
Is the web free from dust, oil or other contamination?

4️⃣ WINDING & HANDLING
Are your tension levels and handling correct to avoid unnecessary stress on the laminate?

Is your ink or adhesive not bonding properly?

Before changing your ink, adhesive or process settings, check your surface treatment.

Poor adhesion and inconsistent bonding can often be linked to insufficient or uneven corona treatment.

Here are 4 things to check:

🔹 DYNE LEVEL – Is the surface treatment high enough for your application?
🔹 TREATMENT UNIFORMITY – Is treatment consistent across the full web width?
🔹 TREATMENT SYSTEM – Check electrodes, static bars and other treating components for wear or contamination.
🔹 FILM CONDITION – Surface properties can change during storage and handling.

💡 CONEQUIPT TIP:
Test your dyne level before you start changing your process settings. A quick surface-treatment check could help you identify the problem faster.
