There's something rather special about sailing up South Africa's West Coast.

The changing winds. The unpredictable conditions. The spectacular coastline. And the occasional whale who decides to make an appearance. 🐋

In his account of the 2025 race aboard 𝑉𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑡𝑎, Nick Leggatt recalls fog, humpback whales, a night with almost no wind, and crews determined to squeeze every last bit of speed from their boats.

His opening words say it all:
