What happens before your favourite Klay products make it onto a project?

We’re taking you behind the scenes at our factory to show you a little more of the process, and the people behind it.

From the clay entering the production process to the moment products come out of the kiln, there are plenty of hands-on stages along the way. Our products may not be handmade, but they are certainly hands-on, with our team playing an important role before, during and after firing.

It’s a process built around experience, precision and a genuine love for clay.

Because when you see the finished product, you only see the end of the story. We thought it was time to show you how it starts.

Sometimes, it’s the small details that make a space memorable.

For our Heritage Day campaign, we spent some time with Nicola Polmans from Outdoor Living to discover the inspiration behind her latest range and the space that has now become her showroom.

The design is simple and playful, but one detail really caught our attention: the beautiful lily pad-like shadows created by the furniture as the sunlight moves across the space. It’s an unexpected detail that changes throughout the day and adds another layer to the setting.

Together with Kleurspace, Sprung Outdoor Living brought together outdoor furniture, colour, texture, Klay Klompies and Screenblocks to create a space that feels both functional and inviting.

It was also a great reminder of how versatile Klay products can be. Whether used indoors or outdoors, Klompies and Screenblocks can work alongside furniture, finishes and architectural elements to help bring a space together.

We loved seeing how Nicola brought Klay into her showroom and learning more about the inspiration behind her new range.

Each month, Klay will be highlighting a Project of the Month, showcasing inspiring homes, renovations, commercial spaces and architectural projects that use Klay clay bricks, brick products and tiles.

One of the greatest compliments we can receive is being chosen again.

This project features our Mirage Screenblocks, which the client has chosen to paint, and marks another collaboration with TCQ Construction, one of the first Johannesburg contractors to specify Klay Screenblocks over two years ago.

Seeing clients return for future projects is something we never take for granted. It reflects the trust we've built, the quality of our products, and the value of strong partnerships.

Decorex Day Three, and what a day it’s been!

The crowds were bigger, the energy was high, and it was great to see so many new and familiar faces throughout the day.
