There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at Minga Mission Hospital in Zambia right now.

The kind of work that isn’t always visible, but carries real weight. Coordination, decisions, handovers, and the people holding it all together.

As the project moves through a critical phase, we’re inviting you to stand with the team in prayer.

Swipe through for specific ways to pray 🙏💙

There’s already so much growing at Mahabo Agricultural School’s site. 🌱
Sakoa, voatango, lamonty, tavolo. These are part of everyday life here, part of what the land already provides.

A few steps away, under this tree, the team gathered to carry out soil testing for what will become the new admin building. Nothing visible yet, just the early work of understanding the ground. 🤲 The work begins within it.

This Easter, we’re reminded of the hope we hold. 🙏
We see it in communities, in the work taking shape, and in the people who carry it forward.
Wishing you and your families a blessed Easter! 💙

Some trips carry both challenge and encouragement at the same time. The recent visit to CEML Hospital for the ER and Administration Expansion was one of those.

The team travelled long distances, navigated unexpected challenges on the road, and stepped into complex conversations on site. Yet again and again, small moments reminded them that God was already at work. From honest discussions with hospital leadership to unexpected provision along the way, there was a growing sense that even the difficult parts are shaping the path forward. 🙌

As the CEML Hospital ER and Admin Expansion continues to move ahead, we invite you to pray with us.

Please pray for:
- Wisdom in communication. Clear understanding between the professional team, contractor, consultants, and leadership. Cultural and language differences can make communication complex, so wisdom and patience are deeply needed.
- Strong relationships and collaboration. That trust, humility, and unity would grow among everyone working on the project, helping the team move forward together toward the shared vision for the hospital.

- The right technical support. Pray for the provision of key expertise, particularly a mechanical engineer and other professionals who can strengthen the technical side of the project.

- Strength and endurance for the team. The team will continue travelling regularly to support the project. Pray for safety on the road, physical endurance, and encouragement as they keep serving faithfully.

Thank you for standing with us in prayer as this project continues. 🙏

Together, we are trusting God to guide every step as the CEML Hospital ER and Admin Expansion moves forward.

World Water Day on the 22nd of March reminds us of something both simple and urgent 💧

Access to safe water is essential for health, dignity, and daily life. Yet for many communities, this is still not guaranteed.

WASH, which stands for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, is a global approach focused on improving access to safe water, sanitation systems, and healthy practices. These three are closely connected and form the foundation for thriving communities.

At EMI, we have the privilege of supporting this work through design. This can look like testing water quality, assessing treatment systems, and helping to develop infrastructure that enables hospitals, schools, and ministries to function safely and sustainably.

For many years, this work has taken place within the boundaries of individual project sites. As we look ahead, we are beginning to explore how this can extend further, supporting broader community needs through partnerships with organisations already serving on the ground.

This work is not done alone. It is shaped through collaboration, technical expertise, and long-term commitment.

If you would like to be part of this, you can support WASH initiatives through the following link: https://emiworld.org/give/growing-globally #2024

Architecture graduates, this one is for you.

Our Term 2 EMI Internship Programme is nearly full, and we are still looking for a few architecture graduates to join the team in Cape Town.

At EMI, architects and engineers partner with ministries around the world to design facilities that help communities flourish. From hospitals and schools to training centres and ministry spaces, thoughtful design can strengthen the work already happening on the ground.

Interns step into that process. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to real projects, and gain insight into how design can serve the Church and communities globally.

If you are an architecture graduate interested in using your skills to serve, we would love to hear from you.

- Based at the EMI South Africa office in Cape Town
- Applications close 22 March

Some of the stories we’re carrying through 2026 are unfolding in Zambia.

At Minga Mission Hospital, construction is underway to strengthen surgical facilities and build resilient infrastructure that supports care every day.

At the same time, another journey is taking shape across Eastern Province, where teams have been walking hospital corridors, meeting healthcare leaders, and listening closely as part of a broader maternal and child healthcare strategy.

These are two distinct projects, yet both are rooted in the same hope: stronger systems that support the people serving their communities.

One hospital. One province. Many conversations, partnerships, and moments that are shaping what comes next.

We’ve shared more of these stories in the latest issue of Inside EMI, where you can read the full feature.

As Raymond Kasaka, Medical Officer in Charge at St. Luke’s Mission Hospital, shared:
“We don’t get into this job to make a lot of money, it’s a ministry. From the cleaner to management, everyone has an important role.”

Volunteers needed. 💪
This March, our teams are heading to Kenya and Malawi to walk alongside ministry partners on the ground — listening, learning, and designing solutions that will serve communities for years to come.

We’re currently looking for Electrical and Civil Engineers who are willing to bring their skills into complex, real-world contexts — from off-grid power and load studies to water systems, waste management, and sustainable infrastructure design.

If you’re passionate about thoughtful design, collaboration, and using your profession to serve the Church and local communities, this might be your invitation.

✨ Welcome to the EMI SA family, Term 1 interns of 2026 ✨

The last two weeks have been a beautiful kind of busy. New faces around the table, fresh questions being asked, laughter drifting down the hallway, and an office quietly humming with purpose.

We’re so glad to welcome this new group of interns as they step into a season of learning, growth, service, and design that points beyond itself. May this term be one of curiosity, courage, collaboration, and moments where theory meets lived experience.

We’re excited to journey together. Welcome home. 💙
