Another ZF MTL 3085 Series II hub rebuild completed at Gearmach Trading!

This unit came off a Doosan DL300 front-end loader and was brought into our workshop for a complete rebuild.
We stripped the unit down, inspected the gears, bearings, clutch packs and internal components, and replaced the necessary parts before carefully reassembling everything.

These hubs take a fair amount of work to rebuild properly, and there's a lot more going on inside than most people realise.

A big part of what we do is making sure the small details aren't overlooked. The last thing anyone wants is to have a machine standing again because corners were cut during a repair.

All our component rebuilds are backed by our 6-month / 1,000-hour warranty.

We’ve been using the Rotakesa T3 in the workshop for the past week and it’s handled everything we’ve thrown at it. Tight nuts and stubborn bolts — it’s had plenty of both 😂

Thanks to Rotakesa ! The T3 is getting plenty of use here at Gearmach and so far, we’re impressed. Let’s see what the next week brings!

That’s the torque this Doosan DE12 is putting down on our dyno after a Gearmach engine rebuild

Then we pan across to our sponsored Rotake T3 impact wrench…

🔧 1200 Nm of fastening torque
💥 1180 Nm of breakaway torque

Yes, you read that right ! The same fastening torque figure as this massive 6-cylinder engine’s dyno reading! 😳

An engine delivers torque continuously, while an impact wrench delivers it in hammering blows — but that’s still a serious punch from a handheld tool.

The Doosan does the heavy pulling. The Rotake tackles the tight nuts. And we get to put both through their paces. 💪

Things are getting serious in our cylinder repair department!

We have been extremely busy repairing hydraulic cylinders lately , from smaller skid-steer cylinders right through to the massive cylinders fitted to 100-ton excavators and other heavy earthmoving machines

The workload has pushed us to expand our capabilities, so we’ve built our own dedicated cylinder test bench. This allows us to properly pressure test repaired cylinders before they leave our workshop and return to work

We’ve also built a hydraulic nut cracker for those rod nuts and bolts that are ridiculously tight. Some of them were clearly fitted by someone who never intended for them to come off again! 😅 If persuasion, a long pipe and strong language don’t work, the nut cracker will
