Plenty happening below ground on this pipeline installation.

Legend Pro aluminium shoring boxes were used for the main trench, with VertiShore hydraulic shoring in sections where working space was limited.

Above ground, TL2 water-filled barriers separated the excavation from passing traffic, while handrails, access platforms and retrieval equipment supported trench operations.

A bit of back propping work from our team in Lidcombe, NSW.

The project involved supporting a suspended slab to accommodate EWP operations.

While the EWP was doing its job above, the temporary propping arrangement provided additional structural support below.

Another example of how back propping can be used to accommodate construction equipment on existing structures.

Another Surry Hills project with Buildcorp, and another structural challenge requiring a different approach to propping.

The job involved removing a load-bearing wall beneath a fire stair landing and cutting out part of a suspended slab.

With the area beneath the landing needed for demolition, conventional propping wasn't an option.

Legend Hire's solution used steel needle beams supported by Legend 50T prop towers positioned outside the demolition area, with tilt props bracing the new slab edge.

The structure remained supported throughout the works, with no measurable movement or unplanned stoppages.

Legend 50T and 100T Modular Propping Systems in action.

As part of the Club Maitland City expansion, Legend Hire delivered an engineered temporary propping solution to support the existing structure during façade reconstruction and column underpinning works.

Our solution combined modular propping systems, steel transfer beams and hydraulic jacks to provide the structural support required throughout the works.

No room to go wider. So they went 6 metres down.

On this Meadowbrook sewer project, a live road and restricted site footprint meant conventional battering wasn’t practical. The project needed a supported excavation that could progress with the works.

Legend Hire supplied the steel trench shoring system and complete safety setup — including access, edge protection and retrieval equipment for crews working below.

The complete setup gave crews the support and access they needed to work safely at depth and keep the sewer installation moving.

Two live-loaded concrete columns. Poor ground. A new lift shaft going in directly beneath their footings.

In Surry Hills, NSW, Buildcorp needed to undermine the footings of two existing columns to build a new lift pit, but the column loads had to be transferred into temporary works before a single bucket of excavation could begin.

Working with RBG Temporary Works Engineers, our team designed and delivered a through-bolted steel clamp and needle beam system:

- Stiffened steel clamps through-bolted across each column
- Deep fabricated needle beams either side, bearing on 100T hydraulic jacks
- Controlled pre-load using a Durapac P-Series two-speed hand pump
- Temporary concrete footings to spread loads into clay and weathered sandstone
- Cross bracing and raking props for lateral stability throughout jacking and excavation

The result: both columns fully supported, the lift pit footprint kept clear, and Buildcorp able to excavate and construct safely beneath the existing structure.

Not every propping project takes place on a construction site.

This aircraft was brought from Papua New Guinea to Australia for major repairs and maintenance. Before critical structural components in the tail section could be replaced, the aircraft required a temporary support solution to keep the tail stable and prevent any movement throughout the repair process.

When excavation support is required on one side only, the solution needs to be carefully engineered to manage significant loads without relying on support from the opposite side.

For this basement construction project, our team delivered a single-sided shoring system using shoring panels, modular propping and tilt props to support the excavation while working within a constrained site environment.
