Looking at this Defender 90 County, it's easy to see more than a roof rack, snorkel and spotlights. Each addition hints at a plan, a destination, or an adventure waiting to happen.

For decades, owners have come to us to prepare their Land Rovers for the journeys ahead. Sometimes that meant fitting accessories, sometimes carrying out maintenance before a big trip, and sometimes simply making sure the vehicle was ready to go wherever the map led next.

The result was often a vehicle that reflected its owner just as much as it reflected the Land Rover badge on the grille.

Celebrating 55 years of the Land Rover Series III.

October 1971 saw the introduction of the Series III. It was an evolution of the Land Rover, retaining the historically-proven fundamentals while introducing some important changes.

A fully synchromesh gearbox made everyday driving a little easier, while inside, a completely redesigned dashboard moved the instruments from the centre to directly in front of the driver.

We’re fortunate to have our own small part in that history. Pictured here are Series III 109-inch Land Rovers from our archives, prepared by us for medical use in Africa.

55 years on, the Series III has certainly earned its place in Land Rover history. And we’re proud to still be preserving and caring for these vehicles today.

From the archives.

This expedition-prepared Defender 110 visited Keith Gotts after what appears to have been a remarkable adventure. Covered in sponsor decals and carrying Land Rover's iconic One Life. Live It. slogan, it was equipped with everything needed for serious overland travel.

The Tierra del Fuego graphics suggested journeys were measured in continents, unlike miles. And it was reminiscent of an era when most Defenders became passports to some of the most remote places on earth.

Built for adventure and for work.

This Defender 130 Quadtech was built around carrying more, go further, and keep working long after the road runs out. The bespoke rear body, roof platform and generous load capacity meant everything needed for the job could travel with it.

What would you have used it for?

This remarkable Stage One V8-based 6x6 conversion from the Keith Gotts archives was built for owners who needed more payload, more traction and more capability than a standard Land Rover could provide.

While many Land Rovers became known for adventure and exploration, others earned their keep on estates, construction projects and utility work, carrying heavier loads into places conventional trucks struggled to reach.

Have you ever seen a Land Rover 6x6 in person?

A field full of 101 Forward Controls from our archives.

Today that would be a remarkable sight. Back when these photos were taken, it was just another day at Keith Gotts.

Looking through the archives, it's the scale that stands out. Row after row of 101s lined across the grass, alongside some equally interesting Land Rovers that many enthusiasts will spot straight away.

Stories through wear. Faded graphics. Worn paint. Old steering wheels. All carrying the marks left by years of use.

Then there are the newer or carefully preserved examples, beginning the next chapter of their own story.

That variety is part of what makes these vehicles so enduring. Preserving character doesn’t always mean making something look new.

Sometimes it means keeping the history visible and the vehicle on the road.

That’s where we come in.

The Camel Trophy left a mark far beyond the event itself.

The Sandglow Yellow Land Rovers, expedition equipment and unmistakable graphics became the visual language for adventure and community.

This Defender isn’t a former Camel Trophy vehicle. It’s something personal: an owner’s interpretation, shaped by the imagery, spirit and old-school branding.

Badges, decals, equipment and small details become a way of expressing personality while still nodding to the wider Land Rover community and the adventures that brought people together.

That’s the legacy of Camel Trophy. And that branding still looks as good now as it ever did.

The details that define a Heritage Defender.

HUE 166 graphics. Heritage badging. Period finishes. Small identifiers designed to distinguish one of the final limited-run Defenders from the rest.

Across two Heritage examples currently with us, one LHD and one RHD, those details tell slightly different stories. Different specifications, different histories, but the same unmistakable identity.

And on one of them, a particularly interesting detail: ONE OF 73. Limited-run vehicles like these matter because the details matter.

A familiar face on Alton High Street. One of the best parts of the Alton Classic Car Show is never quite knowing what you’re going to come across and amongst the incredible selection of vehicles this year, we happened to spot one we know rather well.

Meet Gerty, a 1962 Land Rover Series IIA belonging to one of our customers.
Gerty is no stranger to being used as intended, heading out regularly for local adventures, and over the years we’ve been pleased to help keep her doing exactly that with parts supply and maintenance whenever needed.

So, seeing her sitting proudly amongst the classics on Alton High Street was a particularly nice surprise. We had some brilliant conversations with people stopping to look, sharing stories and taking an interest in a vehicle that, more than 60 years after it was built, is still being enjoyed today.

A huge thank you to Alton Lions Club - Registered Charity No: 1174502 and everyone involved in organising another fantastic Classic Car Show.

And of course, it was good to see you Gerty.
