Đền Và, Dedicated to the God of the Immortal Mountain, Hanoi, Vietnam

Located in Son Tay, Hanoi, Vietnam, the Đền Và (Den Va, Temple of Harmony/Eastern Palace) is a venerable national historical and cultural heritage site dedicated to Son Tinh (Mountain Sage), the foremost of Vietnam's "Four Immortal Gods." Surrounded by centuries-old trees, it boasts a rich natural environment and a sacred atmosphere. Basic information and characteristics of Deng Và are as follows:

Alternate Names: Also known as the Eastern Palace (Đông Cung), it is an important temple guarding the "East" of the four palaces (east, west, north, and south) surrounding Thanh Vien Mountain (Ba Vi Mountain).

History and Designation: Registered as a national historical and cultural heritage site in 1964, and designated as an intangible cultural heritage in 2016. The current building retains its appearance from the 17th to 19th-century restorations.

Rich Natural Landscape: Situated on a hillside overgrown with hundreds of giant longan (Lim) trees, it features distinctive walls constructed from limestone and traditional laterite (red clay).

Main Festivals (Rituals): A grand spring festival is held annually around the 15th day of the first lunar month, featuring important ceremonies that preserve the region's traditional culture.

I also visited, and the surrounding area is quiet and somewhat secluded from the town center, exuding a solemn atmosphere. I believe it's an excellent place to deepen one's understanding of the region's history and traditions.

TRA CO, beautiful long beach and border area of Vietnaｍ,Trà Cổ

In Vietnam, “TRA CO (Trà Cổ)” generally refers to a beautiful beach resort located in Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province, at the easternmost point of the country. Situated close to the border with China, it is a tourist destination renowned for its abundant natural beauty and long coastline.

I visited at dusk. A straight road leads all the way to the cape, lined with temples, churches, and entrances to several beaches. There were also facilities such as a golf course. From the cape, I could see the sea dotted with fishing boats and the scenery of Dongxing City in neighboring China.

Mong Cai City Center Strolling. Border city of Vietnam,Móng Cái　

Mong Cai is a city located at the northeastern tip of Vietnam. It borders Dongxing City in China and has long been a hub of border trade. A city brimming with the international character and openness characteristic of a border town, its city center, though with a population of less than 100,000, is always bustling with people traveling between the two countries. Markets are located in several places within the city, where it's possible to purchase a variety of goods imported from China.

One of the most famous spots is Tra Co Beach. This long coastline, stretching for over ten kilometers, boasts calm waves, making it ideal for swimming. In the summer, it attracts a large number of visitors from China. The Tra Co region also features historical buildings, including famous churches.

Chùa Quán Sứ, The Head Temple of Vietnamese Buddhism,Hanoi

Quán Sứ Temple (Chùa Quán Sứ) is one of the most representative Buddhist temples in Vietnam, located on the southern side of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Dating back to around the 15th century, it currently plays a vital role as the central headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Historical Background
The temple’s name, “Quán Sứ,” means “residence for envoys.” It is said to have originated during the Later Lê Dynasty, when a facility was established on this site to receive envoys from Buddhist countries such as Champa and Laos, and a temple was built for their worship. Today, the residence no longer exists, and only the temple remains to bear witness to its history.

Architecture and Highlights
The temple has undergone multiple renovations throughout its long history, and the current grounds feature a three-gate entrance, a main hall, a lecture hall, monks’ quarters, and a library. While based on the traditional architectural style of northern Vietnamese Buddhist temples, it is characterized by the orderly landscape of an urban temple created through modern renovations. Within the grounds, there are altars dedicated to the Buddha and Bodhisattvas, as well as one honoring the high monk of the Lý Dynasty, Nguyễn Minh Công (Lý Quốc Sư).

Role in Vietnamese Buddhism
It became the headquarters of the Northern Buddhist Association in 1934 and has served as the headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, a national organization, since 1981. As it hosts large-scale religious events such as Vesak (Buddha’s Birthday) and Vu Lan (Ullambana), as well as Dharma talks and cultural exchange events, it is known not merely as a tourist attraction but as the center of modern Vietnamese Buddhism.

Visiting Experience
Although the temple grounds are located in a busy area of central Hanoi, the interior is enveloped in a quiet and serene atmosphere. Close to the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake, it serves as a spiritual and cultural hub visited not only by local worshippers but also by pilgrims and travelers from both Vietnam and abroad. Admission is generally free, and the temple is popular as a place for prayer, meditation, and deepening one’s understanding of Vietnamese Buddhist culture.

The area surrounding this temple is considered extremely important in the development and formation of early Vietnamese Buddhism. The surrounding area is dotted with temples possessing national treasure Buddha statues and rare architectural structures, making it a very meaningful place to learn not only about Vietnamese Buddhism but also about the origins of Vietnam as a nation.

While the temple itself has a long history, the building was only completed in 2024. Although the building itself is relatively new, it boasts a large assembly hall on the first floor where Buddhists can gather. It somewhat resembles the royal palace of Hue during the Nguyen Dynasty.

In front of the temple is a large plaza and a tributary of the Red River. This area was once a vital hub for water transport. As shown in the video, children gather and play at the temple, making it a spiritual center for the local residents.

Delicious! Japanese Restaurant in Star Lake City Hanoi　

I went to a Japanese restaurant called "KOKORO" located in STAR LAKE CITY, a newly developed area in Hanoi, Vietnam. KOKORO means "heart" in Japanese. It's a Vietnamese-owned restaurant, but the menu is diverse, and the chef seems quite skilled. I ordered a mixed dish of curry and beef bowl, and it was delicious.

Chay Thiện Tâm An,Hanoi's top-level vegetarian restaurant; even high-ranking monks savor the cuisine

This vegetarian restaurant is located in a building on 555 LAC LONG QUAN Street in Hanoi. The interior has a very bright atmosphere. Lunch is a vegetarian buffet style, and as you can see in the video, skilled chefs use a variety of ingredients to create a large and creative menu. Many high-ranking monks frequent the restaurant, and you'll often see them in their monastic robes. This is a must-visit restaurant.
