5 axis adds a lot of capability to a shop, but one of my favorite things it’s made incredibly easy is fully chamfering a part in the machine. Being able to rotate the part and hit chamfers from either side with an end mill has been a huge advantage.

Benefits of a home shop: the ability to keep running parts into the evening if and when needed. Get a notification when the cycle is complete, swap a part, and go right back to making dinner or whatever else is going on.

Someone will say I should have done these in a lathe, my response is, they are +/- home project whatever, the machine doesn’t care what the shape of the stock is.

We all I know I didn’t do the turning on these! That was Harry Totzke

I did the hard part, holes and counterbores. 😂

Window machining at it again. One OP in the machine and done. Full radius on these parts, just 4 tabs and a quick hit on the buffing wheel.

Multimaster with this ER32 extension was the perfect length to clear out behind this part to tab it off.

Nothing fancy here, just utilizing the T slot clearance.

Can’t show the part here but being able to use the UMC to set a plate on at B0, indicate in and rotate B90 for end holes is great!

Wonder how many will tell me there’s other ways to do this 🤣

Qty: 1 - Cycle time was less than 2 minutes

Added a quick toolpath to clear out a section that lets me easily pick up the edge when flipping the part over.

If this were anything more than a quantity of one, I’d take a different approach. But this job has 18 unique parts, quantity one of each, and not a single one has the same stock size.

Setting up a repeat job with multiple +.001” / -.000” bores. Last time I ran this part I only had two dial bore gages and kept swapping sizes back and forth….not this time.
