Jake Delphia visited the site of a central heating substation for a new apartment building in Skopje, North Macedonia. IED Consulting is developing feasibility studies for 26 old residential buildings for the conversion to horizontal network in apartments with individual metering and billing. This activity is part of IED Consulting recent support for the European Union Delegation that also includes developing guidelines for the tendering of EV charging stations and a Rulebook to comply with EU requirements of the reporting of regulated and competitive transaction in the electricity market.

Jake Delphia visited the massive construction site of the 3,600 MW Rogun hydropower plant (HPP.) As a subcontractor to Corporate Solutions, we are supporting the development of Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to the largest electricity consumers in Tajikistan, and we are supporting the development of cross-border PPAs with utilities in the Central Asia Region. The HPP will include the world’s highest dam (330 meters) and provide power to be delivered on the CASA-1000, the mega-transmission network reaching as far away as Pakistan.

On June 16th IED Consulting team participated at the Renewable Energy Investment Conference in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Jake Delphia provided a peek into the future of competitive electricity market designs, his presentation covered the coming three phases for electricity market reform for the European Union and Energy Community in its response to the current energy crisis and their pursuit of a carbon neutral economy by 2050. The three phases are:1) Fast tracking renewable energy, reducing administrative burden and easier process to acquire network interconnection approval and environmental permits (2023-2024) 2) Reducing the impact on short-term pricing by utilizing long-term contracting including Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) (2025-2030)3) Post-2030 electricity market will be driven by fixed price contracts for renewable energy resources and a Flexibility Market that includes storage facilities, demand response, hydrogen-fired power plants, and behind the meter (BTM) technology. The electricity market in Europe is moving toward distributed generation, smart bilateral contracts managed by AI software between prosumers, and trading settlements driven by blockchain software packages.The presentation garnered interests from several private sector conference participants that we interested to learn more about the upcoming changes and how they could take advantage of being leading promoters and investors in the new markets that RE plants will operate.

Mr. Jake Delphia, CEO of IED Consulting, participated in the AFUR 19th Annual Conference, held on Mar 8-10, 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa. He presented our program's results in developing a Functional Model for the ECOWAS Power System and Electricity Market.

The African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR) focuses on issues related to the regulation of energy, telecommunications, transport, and water & sanitation industries, with a particular emphasis on issues that are common across sectors (but not necessarily limited to the primary focus sectors).
