What do flow experiments say about face masks and filter materials?

https://youtu.be/AHGtpBBeC9k

Professor Christian J. Kähler and his assistant Dr. Rainer Hain from the Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics at the University of the German Federal Armed Forces in Munich, have conducted detailed flow experiments in order to clarify whether the safety distances, which are controversially discussed in the media, are useful from a fluid mechanics point of view. They also explored to what extent a simple mouth-and-nose protector protects against droplet infection and whether commercially available household materials are suitable for producing particle-filtering protective masks that protect against droplet infection with the corona virus SARS-CoV-2.
