Hey there folks, it’s >>THROUGH FEED THURSDAY!
What is “through feed” may you ask? Great question we’d love to tell you!
It is a method of extremely precise valve repair-using centerless grinding-that we offer here at HARD CHROME SPECIALISTS-REPAIR DIVISION! The cylinder is “fed through” the grinding wheels the entire way-entering on one side and exiting on the opposite. The regulating wheel is angled away from the plane of the grinding wheel in such a way as to provide a lateral force component, pushing the cylinders between the two wheels!
How it works?!
Two grinding wheels, rotating in the same direction at different speeds. One grinding wheel is on a fixed axis and rotates so that the force applied to the cylinder is directed downward. This wheel usually performs the grinding action by having a higher linear speed than the cylinder at the point of contact. The other movable wheel is positioned to apply lateral pressure to the cylinder and usually has either a rough or rubber-bonded abrasive to trap the cylinder.
It is being demonstrated here on a Cincinnati Milacron 220-8
