🌟 Employee Spotlight: Dorinda “Dory” Nordsick 🌟
This month, we’re highlighting Dorinda “Dory” Nordsick, Hellam Township’s Accounting Coordinator!
Dory has been with the Township for 17 years and handles a little bit of everything behind the scenes, including payroll, accounts payable, deposits, escrows, budgeting, and assisting other departments as needed.
For Dory, no two days are the same, and that variety is one of the things she enjoys most about her role.
“Accounting is not just numbers,” Dory said. “There are a lot of behind-the-scenes things that people don’t realize go on.”
As a lifelong Hellam Township resident, Dory’s connection to the community goes well beyond her job. She grew up here, raised her family here, and remembers spending plenty of time at Barshinger Field while her children played soccer. That personal connection is also part of what brought her to work for the Township.
“I’m invested in my job because I also live here, not just work here,” she said.
During her 17 years with Hellam Township, Dory has seen plenty of growth and change, including the construction of the current Township building. She says one of her favorite parts of working here is being part of a small team where coworkers truly get to know one another and their families.
Outside of work, Dory enjoys spending time with friends and family and reading.
Her advice to residents? Ask questions. There is a lot happening behind the scenes across Township departments, and staff are always here to help residents better understand how their local government works.
