VIBCOโs 60th Anniversary is Celebrated!
On October 18, 2022, VIBCO Vi*****rs marked its 60th anniversary in business. Vibco began when company founder Theodore โTedโ Wadensten successfully manufactured and marketed his revolutionary Silent Pneumatic vibration equipment.
With its start in a chicken coop in Sparta New Jersey, it was only natural to plan a special chicken-related party! VIBCO employees commemorated the date with a fun-filled luncheon provided by Rhode Islandโs own โCluck Truckโ who served the best cluckinโ chicken around! Lunch included sandwiches, strips (with a variety of hot sauces), and chicken & waffles with shakes, cake, and cookies.
Ted Wadensten immigrated to the United States from Sweden as a sales engineer for a European vi****or manufacturer. Shortly after arriving in the United States, Wadensten recognized that the American market needed a no-maintenance vi****or with greater durability for rough applications so Wadensten embraced the American entrepreneurial spirit and set out on his own. Ted Wadensten perfected his revolutionary idea for a Silent Pneumatic Turbine Vi****or and took his product to market. The new vi****or was quiet, required little or no maintenance, and stood up to the rigors of heavy use. He was awarded a United States patent in 1972 for his pneumatic turbine vi****or design. Ted semi-retired in 1995 but has continued with his love of engineering, receiving 9 patents post-retirement.
โMy dad started this company with a great idea and a few thousand dollars heโd borrowed from a family member. He didnโt listen to the naysayers, critics, and cynics. He just believed in his idea and made it happen. That can-do spirit is an important part of VIBCOโs culture to this day, โ says current VIBCO President, Karl Wadensten.
Karl Wadensten is a man on a mission to preserve and grow his fatherโs legacy by passionately leading VIBCO Vi*****rs toward operational and cultural excellence. Under Karlโs leadership, VIBCO has quadrupled its annual sales and has successfully implemented Lean methodologies based on the Toyota Production System. VIBCOโs organizational culture and operator-led continuous improvement program are world-renowned and featured in countless articles, books, blogs, and other publications including a Harvard Business case.
