Greetings everyone! Mike here from Woodland True Value Hardware. Just an update on the car accident. Yes we are open for business as usual but have only one working door at this time. We are told the glass and door frame may take up to 4-6 weeks to fix since our building was built in the 1950’s and many parts are no longer available, so the boards may be up for a month or two. We do have insurance and the car owner has insurance also.
What happened was truely a very unfortunate freak accident caused by no intentional neglect or recklessness of the car driver. He got into his car and started it and it immediately reved to a high rpm while speeding backwards up over the curb and into the store front.
What is most horrendous of all is a woman behind the car was impacted resulting in some broken bones, large gashes and numerous cuts from store window glass according to her husband. I have chose not to disclose her name out of respect for her privacy. Please lift her up in prayer for a quick and complete healing from this traumatic event.
I would like to extend a very special thank you to James and Owen Harper, Brad Gillaspie, and Tom Golik for immediately jumpin in to clean up and board up the store front since I was out of town at my sons wedding and wasn’t able to make it back until hours later after the accident. I would also like to thank all of our store friends and the community who reached out to us to generously offer up their time and resources to help clean up the store. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
