BTL Engineering was proud to partner on the exciting 18800 Front Street construction project in downtown Poulsbo, WA with Chinook Contractors and Wattenbarger Architects. The project made up of a full renovation of an existing 3-story early 1900’s building which entailed full lateral and seismic upgrades plus framing upgrades to address deficiencies and change of occupancy. An additional story was added to the southern portion of the building that would incorporate commercial space and a large outdoor deck.

Phase 2 of the project included a new 3-story addition with one and a half levels of parking and wood-framed apartments. The transfer deck consisted of a concrete filled metal deck and steel beams with welded headed studs to create efficient beam sizes by utilizing composite action. No PT slabs were used due to site constraints. A concrete buttress wall design was provided between the Phase 1 and Phase 2 foundation to resist surcharge loads and the stepping site topography.

In 2021 the team at BTL got the opportunity to work with Syndicate Smith on the Leavenworth Adventure Park, home to Washington State's first alpine coaster. Most notably, this build required the coordination of the structure with the roller coaster to accommodate loading and unloading as well as storage of the coaster cars. Featuring interior and exterior elevated spaces and an exterior climbing wall, all while maintaining the Leavenworth Bavarian "language".

BTL Engineering has been proud to partner with Sea Pac Homes for 4+ years on their residential projects in the greater Seattle area. We are excited to feature this beautiful custom home that just finished in Bothell, WA. At over 7,000 SQ FT with a mix of wood framing and steel supports, BTL was able to efficiently engineer the structure to eliminate any costly moment frames or pre-fabricated Strong Walls. We are thrilled with how the house turned out!

Our team has been growing! Please welcome Izzy - our newest Project Engineer. A University of Washington graduate returning back to school in the fall to pursue her Masters in structural engineering and mechanics, Izzy has already made a huge impact with our team and is excited to continue learning. BTL Engineering is licensed in WA, OR, ID, CA and MT? With an office located in Bothell and a satellite office based in Wenatchee - our projects are able to span the entirety of Washington State and extend out to our other licensed states across the PNW. Pictured, is one of our recently finished projects located in Chelan, Washington. The largest challenge associated with this project was making the home fit on the sloped site while accentuating the home's best feature, the view of the lake.

Last week BTL Engineering had the opportunity to celebrate Associate Principal, Ryan Hartman's 10-year work anniversary!

Bringing specialty in working with Residential Builders in single-family and multi-family townhome jobs, Ryan has managed over 147 projects since becoming an owner in 2021 and has contributed to many more as a Project Engineer prior to that. Being passionate in math and residential construction led Ryan to starting his career in the structural engineering field and the developed relationships with clients and collaborative, supportive office environment at BTL continue to drive the dedication and respect for his work. One of the most memorable projects Ryan has worked on to date has been a rehabilitation project in downtown Poulsbo of an old 1900's building and bringing it up to current seismic standards while dealing with challenges of old and inadequate existing construction.

to when BTL Engineering provided structural engineering support to the "Extreme Makeover - Home Edition" team after Roseanne Dore and her three daughters lost their home in a fire. Located in Kingston, WA - demolition and construction on the unique six-bedroom farmhouse began and completed in November 2004 thanks to 700 volunteers working around the clock for 6 days straight.

A new house on the edge of the Wenatchee River in Leavenworth, WA, and a solution to a very skinny and long lot. This house was built as a modern dream house for the owners back in 2015. Due to the steep, riverside site, traditional foundations were replaced with tall concrete walls and piers that minimized the impact to the hillside as well as with providing lateral stability.

With an eye on value engineering and efficiency, BTL is proud to partner with many home builders in the area. DR Horton's Cathcart Crossing Townhome development is a 36 building, 286 unit townhome project just minutes from Downtown Snohomish. Within this project, there are three unit designs with slight variations used and site topography that required varying steps between units for each building.
