SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Work under immediate supervision to learn and become proficient in the aspects of engine repair and service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Assist and perform required maintenance under the guidance of the Shop Supervisor and/or Engineers.
• Follow procedures, including documenting all work performed.
• Assist with maintaining the facility by following proper procedures, housekeeping, and performing general maintenance duties.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be able to read, write, and speak clearly in the English language.
• High School diploma or GED required;
• Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including but not limited to Excel and
Microsoft Word software.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid TWIC card.
• Strong mechanical background.
• Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are critical as are leadership skills.
• Must maintain a clear driving record and be insurable through the company’s automobile
insurance carrier.

PREFERRED
• Three (3) to five (5) years related experience and/or certified engine mechanic training.
• Experience working in barge maintenance and/or around shipyard repair activities.
