Ten years ago, PowerSafe Automation needed more room. Actually… we needed room, period.

In the early days, projects were being assembled in CEO's living room — they finally drew the line when metal shavings started finding their way into the carpet. Not long after, they learned about a vacant building in Wolcottville that wasn’t even listed for sale. They tracked down the owner, worked out a lease-to-own agreement, and PowerSafe had a home.

The building had been sitting vacant for years, and there was plenty of work to do. Offices were remodeled. Walls moved. Spaces changed purpose. What would eventually become part of the engineering office was once a gym. What is now an office was once a closet. And the shop changed even more.

For the first time, we had room to buy extrusion, polycarbonate, and mesh in bulk. We bought our first saw — a purchase that felt enormous at the time — and slowly began bringing more of our manufacturing capabilities in-house.

As PowerSafe grew, the building grew with us. More equipment. More materials. More projects. More people. The shop was rearranged again and again to squeeze out every bit of efficiency we could. Eventually, indoor storage wasn't enough, so shipping containers were added outside.

Then we started storing extrusion outside. Then a single large order required multiple shipments of finished material simply because there wasn't enough room to store it all at once. At some point, the building that had once given PowerSafe room to grow had become the thing we'd outgrown. And that's a pretty incredible problem to have.

Wolcottville gave PowerSafe the space to become more than an idea. It's where we expanded our capabilities, built a team, took on larger projects, and spent the better part of a decade figuring out just how much we were capable of.

Now, it's time for the next chapter. What started as a concept around a campfire in 2015 has officially grown up.

After six years, it’s time to say goodbye to Mayday ✈️
Mayday has been a part of since 2020, just two years after the location opened. Today, it’s one of the last remaining games from those early years. Thousands of guests have stepped inside with one goal: stop the plane from crashing before time runs out.
This week, Mayday’s final countdown hit zero. In just one day, the room went from the inside of a plane to a blank space, ready to be reimagined into something new. 👀
This time, some of our PowerSafe field installers have traded machine guarding for a very different kind of installation: building an escape room from the ground up.
Because no two rooms are the same, what gets fabricated, sourced, and installed—and how it all comes together—creates a unique challenge every time.
You could almost say building the room is the first puzzle to solve, and right now, our team is in the middle of solving this one.
We can’t show you everything just yet, but something completely new is beginning to take shape behind these walls at Escapology Fort Wayne. 👀

Today we celebrate Trace’s 5 year anniversary with PowerSafe. We are proud to see how far he’s come from starting with us in the shop finishing high school to now a field supervisor who gets to travel the country.
