Aluminum is tight right now.

We’ve been having a lot more conversations about this over the last couple of weeks. Prices are high, and material isn’t as easy to find as it was.

We’re seeing:
• More orders getting pulled in
• Less “wait and see”
• Continued demand for 1100, 3003, and 5052 aluminum
• More focus on O-Temper for forming jobs

Nothing dramatic, just people trying to stay ahead of it and not get caught short.

That usually makes a big difference.

It feels like the headlines haven’t let up much lately.

Oil has been moving around again, and while nothing drastic has hit yet, we are noticing a shift in how people are planning and buying metal.

A few things we’ve been seeing:
• Freight and energy costs slowly working their way into pricing
• More “plan ahead just in case” conversations
• Steady demand for familiar materials like 3003 and 5052 aluminum
• Customers getting a little ahead of their material needs

Nothing dramatic, just a bit more caution and planning.

That usually goes a long way in this industry.

Would be curious what others are seeing out there.🤔

Metals in 2026: Tariffs, Supply, and the Real World

If 2025 felt a little wild, you’re not imagining it. Prices moved fast, lead times got strange, and tariffs and trade rules stopped being background noise and started showing up in real buying decisions.

That doesn’t change in 2026. But this isn’t about headlines. It’s about what’s already showing up in quotes, schedules, and supply conversations.

Here’s what we’re seeing:
• Infrastructure demand is here, not “someday”
• Tariffs and trade rules are now part of everyday buying
• Aluminum keeps gaining ground, but quality and temper really matter
• Planning inventory early is becoming a real advantage

At Almetals, we’re seeing more customers look at aluminum not just as a cost alternative, but as a performance and availability play, especially for deep draw and forming applications where O-Temper makes a real difference.

The simple takeaway? The companies that do well in 2026 won’t be the ones chasing every headline. They’ll be the ones building steady supply chains, paying attention to material quality, and treating availability like a strategy, not an afterthought.

We put together a short, straight-shooter piece on what this means for manufacturers and fabricators this year. If you’re planning projects for 2026, it’s worth a read.

Deep-draw parts love O temper aluminum. Why? It’s soft (fully annealed), super formable, and lets you push deeper, cleaner draws with fewer headaches.

Why engineers choose O temper for deep draw:

Max formability & ductility → stretches into complex shapes without cracking

Fewer splits → softer material = less risk of tearing

Low springback → easier to hit precise dimensions

Great for multi-stage draws → low work-hardening plays nice with redraws

Gentler on tooling → lower abrasion helps extend die life

Smooth finishes → better for appearance and sealing surfaces

Quick snapshot:
Ductility: Very high ✅ • Formability: Excellent ✅ • Crack resistance: High ✅ • Springback: Low ✅ • Finish: Smooth ✅

Where it shines: automotive panels, kitchenware, aerospace housings/covers, electronic and medical enclosures.

Pro tip: Need strength in the finished part? Form in O temper, then heat-treat (e.g., to T4/T6 on heat-treatable alloys). Alloy details matter—1###, 5###, and 6### behave differently, so tell us what you’re running.

Tagline: Where Quality Meets Versatility: Almetals is your source for O Temper Aluminum.
