ColTer Precision, Inc. was founded in 2007 with the goal to bring world class machine tool service back to a level of excellence that the customers deserve. We work with a variety of OEM’s to help support their products. We offer customers a single source from machine tool installations to repairs and calibrations of different types.

Service Engineer

ColTer Precision, Inc. has an immediate need for an experienced CNC Service Engineer. The qualified candidate will be highly skilled and motivated to perform installations, preventative maintenance, calibrations, and repairs for customers within that territory. Travel and/or overnight is involved about 25% of the time.

Mechanical Qualifications

• Responsible for diagnosing and repairing milling & turning machines at the customers facility
• CNC control repair & electronics as well as mechanical systems
• Knowledge of automatic tool changers and pallet systems
• Ballscrew & axis support bearing replacement & alignment
• Spindle replacement and repairs
• Hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting and repair
• Turret repair and alignment
• Must have a strong ability to read mechanical drawings and part prints
• Proficiency with Fanuc, Siemens and Heidenhain a plus
Electrical Qualifications

• Electrical and electronic troubleshooting background
• Ability to read and follow ladder and wiring diagrams
• Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical assemblies
• Use of digital multimeter, megohmmeter and other equipment
Requirements

• Applicant should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC field service or CNC programming and setup
• Self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent customer interaction skills
• Ability to stay calm during stressful situations
• Professional appearance
• Good driving record required

10 years ago a friend of mine and myself knew that we could enjoy our careers better if we went out and started our own company. We both had comfortable jobs that we despised. We both had responsibilities of supporting our families. But, with the support of our families we started ColTer Precision.

It's been a wild ride! We had no idea about business. We have learned a lot along the way! I would like to thank my wife Leeanne, my business partner and friend Bill Richter and his wife for supporting me through the years to make it all possible. I would like to thank all of our current and former employees for helping us along the way. And also all of our customers who trusted us to get the job done when you called!
