The word “streamline” means to change something’s shape, making it smoother or curved in a way that will allow it to travel with less resistance through air or water. This makes the object faster and more efficient with it’s use of energy. The word can also be used to describe changes that will make almost anything better or more efficient by modernizing it or removing unnecessary parts through u
nique and innovative alternatives. The Streamline Challenge is a way for kids to present their ideas on how we might “streamline” our own way of life. What bold innovations will someday make our lives safer, easier, or more efficient? What changes or inventions might help us travel, explore, or protect our priceless natural resources? I am looking for students of all ages to communicate their visions for the future. Ideas will be reviewed and judged based on many factors including originality, ingenuity, functionality, and just plain awesomeness. A limited amount of entries will be chosen and I will develop those concepts into detailed designs to show the kids what their ideas might look like if they are actually built someday. The illustrations will also be published online and in the project calendar. Anyone interested should contact me directly via email for more information. I have some standard entry forms that need to filled out. And all ideas should be sent via email as well. TEACHERS:
If you would like your whole class to participate then I will guarantee at least one illustration based on one of your student designs. You will also receive a project calendar for your classroom.
