October is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month. When someone collapses and isn't breathing normally, bystanders are the first responders:
📞 CALL 911 and send someone for the AED
👐 PUSH hard and fast in the center of the chest (hands-only CPR)
⚡ SHOCK with the AED as soon as it arrives, following the voice prompts

This is Fire Prevention Week, and whether it's hot work on the jobsite or a space heater at home, fire moves faster than most people expect.

✅ Store flammable liquids in approved safety cans and cabinets, away from ignition sources
✅ Clear combustibles before welding, cutting or grinding, and keep a fire watch
✅ Inspect fire extinguishers and keep them unblocked
✅ Test smoke alarms at home and make sure everyone knows two ways out

October is National Protect Your Hearing Month, and hearing loss from noise is one of the most common workplace injuries, and one of the few that never heals.

The good news: it's 100% preventable.
🔹 Wear earplugs or earmuffs around loud tools and equipment, every time
🔹 Roll, insert and hold foam earplugs so they seal properly
🔹 Double up (plugs + muffs) in extreme noise
🔹 Get a baseline hearing test so changes don't go unnoticed

Every year in September, we observe Su***de Prevention Week in the construction industry. This week is dedicated to raising awareness about the unique challenges construction workers face and providing resources to help prevent su***de.

It all started in 2019 when a group of volunteers came together with a powerful mission: to save lives. They launched the first-ever Su***de Prevention Week for the industry, and have been working to make a difference ever since.
