Oil Exploration industry is a high-risk taking one. It is willing to spend millions or tens of millions or even hundreds of millions and more, if you are talking deepwater drilling exploration that have unknown chances of success. The industry understands that although the risks may be high, the rewards that could be gained are even higher.

For an oil rig operator, oil rigs may it be onshore or offshore, present a varied amount of risks and is probably one of the most dangerous professions. The unpredictable nature of oil exploration, with working in close proximity to highly combustible materials, deafening amount of noise of the machinery, on platforms where cranes constantly swing heavy components overhead.

Of the many injury risks the operators are suspect able to, one such risk is that to fingers, arms and hands through dangers of pinch-points and crush-points.
Research shows that hand and finger injuries lead the industry’s record able incidence rates every year. Data from IADC’s 2009 Incident Statistics Program (ISP) indicate that 34% of record able incidents and 20% of lost-time incidents fall in the category of being "caught between objects"
