Our April Employee of the Month was Douglas Arsenault. Doug is a welder at our Plant 2 location that focuses on our explosive magazine business and our smaller chemical storage lockers but you could see him anywhere he is needed! That business has seen "explosive growth" this past year, and continues to expand, so his skill is in demand more than ever before. It is the reason that he also received the Gold Spark Award which recognizes an individual that goes above and beyond. He earned this award by producing results that increased productivity and efficiency and did so in alignment with Justrite’s Core Values of Teamwork, Customer Focus, Drive for Results, Development of Self and Others, and Empowerment to Drive Change. Way to go Doug!

Six years. Zero lost time accidents.

That milestone belongs to the people on our fabrication floor who show up every day committed to doing things the right way—not just the fast way. Safety isn’t a slogan here; it’s a standard that guides every cut, weld, and decision.

We recently celebrated this achievement together at W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir with a team picnic—cornhole competitions, great conversation, and steaks from Perkz on Wheels. A well-earned moment to recognize the discipline and accountability it takes to sustain a safety culture like this.

Why does this matter to our customers?
Because a safe operation is a reliable operation.
• Consistent production with fewer disruptions
• Higher quality workmanship
• A team that takes pride in precision and accountability
• Confidence that your project is built in a controlled, professional environment

To our fabrication team: this is your achievement. Six years is no accident.

A tragic explosion in Mooresville, NC left one person dead and another injured. The investigation is still ongoing, but it raises important reminders about chemical safety in the food and beverage industry.

Incidents like this take time to fully understand, as investigators work to identify the source, conditions, and contributing factors.

For EHS leaders and facility managers, this is a critical reminder: Corrosive chemicals like caustic soda, commonly used in cleaning processes across beverage and manufacturing environments, can contribute to escalating events quickly.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Human Foods Program (HFP) 2026 Priority Deliverables document represents one of the most significant shifts in food safety regulation in recent years. For EHS and operations managers in food and beverage manufacturing, these updates are not abstract policy—they signal very real operational, compliance, and risk management changes that will directly impact facilities, processes, and supplier relationships.

The FDA regulates roughly 80% of the U.S. food supply, making its priorities a leading indicator of enforcement trends and compliance expectations.

This article breaks down what matters most—and what actions your facility should take now.

A fire killed one worker and collapsed an Ohio poultry processing plant last week. The Koch Foods fire is a sobering reminder of how fast a routine day can turn into a high‑hazard event when chemicals and confined spaces are involved. Ammonia gas is suspected in the fire that was so intense it melted steel.

For EHS and ops leaders, this raises hard questions: Are your flammables and process chemicals truly segregated, fire-rated, ventilated, and contained to current code—or just “good enough”? What’s one upgrade you’re prioritizing this year to cut your chemical fire risk?
