Unprecidented Number of Fatalities in Chemical Plants in the Past 11 Months

C&EN reports that 36 people died in U.S. industrial chemical accidents over a recent 11-month period, all while the the US Chemical Safety Board faces closure.

For facility leaders, the takeaway is clear: safer processes, clear procedures, continuous improvement, transparent reporting, and necessary improvements and updates are essential to protecting workers, communities, and the environment. Ideally, so no investigation of a tragedy has to occur. Ever.
