Prosecutors say this wasn't about normal accidents or drivers arguing over fault. They uncovered an organized scheme involving spotters.
Here's what makes it terrifying for truckers: prosecutors say some of these people were intentionally crashing into semi trucks for money.
They allegedly staged the wrecks, then tried to collect afterward.
Now lawmakers want intentionally causing a crash with a commercial vehicle for financial gain to become its own specific federal crime.
