KAWS (Kansas Alliance of Weavers and Spinners) conference attendees enjoyed the event last weekend in Manhattan. Congratulations to our guild member Gary Hicks, who won the KAW Valley Fiber Guild award for his handspun cotton yarn! Each of the guilds had a table to display members' textiles and fiber art - our own table highlights the wide range of skills and artistry of many of our members. 🥰

Congratulations to Guild members who entered work in the 2026 Kansas State Fair! Ribbons are wonderful, but many eyes on fiber arts is the real win. 😍 Marian Vavra, Carol Jared-Brown and Sharon Barnes participated, and here are a few photos. If we missed anything, please add it in the comments!!

We're trying a new thing... a fun class after a lunch break following the Guild meeting. First up is Ice Dyeing on Saturday, Oct. 3! Students will learn the process and dye a piece of fabric to take home and finish. KAWS registration is open!! (That's the Kansas Alliance of Weavers and Spinners conference to newer members. ☺️) This year, it is hosted by the Manhattan Area Fiber Arts Guild, and will be held on Oct. 9 & 10. Check out all the details and register online at https://www.mhkfiberarts.org/kaws-2026! There will be a luncheon speaker, vendors and classes, and lots of in-person networking! Want to learn basic crochet, or brush up your crochet skills? No experience required and family friendly, this is just one of the activities on tap at the Guild's Midsummer Faire on Saturday, June 27th!
