Today, we recognize our first finalist of three for this year's Wess Galyon Cornerstone Award.

Eric Gilbert, owner of Artistic Builders and partner at Liberty Communities, is the immediate past Chairman of WABA's Board of Directors. Fulfilling the need for affordable housing in the Wichita metro area is what drives Eric and his team. Over the past three years, Eric has taken a leadership role in forming WABA's Build My Future, a construction trades workforce development event for high school aged students. This past year, he has been instrumental in bringing the 75th Anniversary celebration together.

It was under Eric Gilbert's leadership, as Chairman of the Board of Directors, that a unanimous vote was taken to name WABA's headquarters as "The Wesley E. Galyon Building," in December 2025.

We will recognize Eric's many contributions at WABA's 75th Anniversary & Cornerstone Award Banquet, along with the other two award finalists, on Friday night as we tribute the memory of Wess Galyon.

He will be greatly missed. A pillar in the construction industry, always willing to give a genuine smile, share words of wisdom and give his support. Condolences to the family.

It is with great sadness that we share news of the loss of a beloved community leader, and someone who led our association for 40 years. Wess Galyon's leadership, dedication, and lasting impact on our association and community will not be forgotten. He will be remembered for his commitment to the building industry and the relationships he helped shape over the years.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Details regarding memorials and ways to honor Wess will be shared as they become available.

We got to spray closed cell foam at The Great Plains Transportation Museum 🚂 This car will become a multi use area for parties, celebrations, events, meetings and performances while maintaining the exterior historical integrity and appearance.
