As I step away from this uniform this Saturday, I do so with confidence that the Kansas Army National Guard remains in the best hands. The Soldiers serving today are among the finest our state and nation have ever produced. They will carry the torch forward, defining victory, meeting our nation’s challenges, and upholding the values we hold dear.
I leave with a deep sense of fulfillment, knowing that I have given my all to this profession, this state, and this country. While my role may change, my dedication to service will not. I will find new ways to contribute, support those in uniform, and honor the legacy of those who came before us. As I stand in my final formation this Saturday I will reflect on the words of General Matthew Ridgway:
"I cannot conceive that God has granted any man a richer, fuller, more satisfying life than mine, for it was spent in service with, and for, that finest product of our civilization—the American Soldier."
God bless each of you and your families, our great state and nation, and the guardians of the plains who serve so proudly. Thank you and I will always be Kansas Proud!
