(KOMT) was started in 1962 by Arthur B. Hubbard, both of whom had been employed by White Star Machinery Company. The administrative were, and still are in Wichita, Kansas and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Evans joined the firm in 1965 and M. William Farris joined in 1970. In 1982 Art Berg retired as President and in 1987 Max Hubbard stepped down as President to pursue other interests. igned as Chairman of the Board of Directors and ESOP Trust, effective December 31, 2011. Bill Farris became Chairman and President, and Wendy Bartlett was named Secretary/Treasurer. KOMT has facilities in Wichita consisting of company owned buildings of approximately 6,500 square feet, staffed with outside sales engineers, service technicians, inside parts sales, office management, accounting and administrative personnel. The Tulsa office is housed in approximately 5,000 square feet of a 10,000 square foot building, also company owned, and is staffed with outside sales engineers, inside parts sales, service technicians and administrative personnel. The company established a Missouri office in 1968, with one salesman covering the Kansas City metropolitan area, as well as the western half of Missouri. An Oklahoma City office was set up in early 1987 to provide better representation in the southwestern area of Oklahoma, with sales and service provided from this office. KOMT has always been service oriented, and to strengthen that quality a service department was established in 1979. It is manned by well-trained technicians, whose training continues as new innovations occur in the machine tool lines. The KOMT sales engineers have over 250 years of experience in the machine tool business with most of those years coming from KOMT. Eight KOMT sales engineers are certified Machine Tool Sales Engineers (CMTSE). The CMTSE program was established by the American Machine Tool Distributors Association in conjunction with the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) and National Tooling & Machining Association (NTMA) to provide a program to acknowledge the essential competence and knowledge that is required to perform effectively as a machine tool sales engineer. KOMT come into business with the leading edge of the technology of numerically controlled machines. While it is still active in its work with standard machines, it continues today with innovative and more productine technologies to serve today's industries.
