I talk about photographing women in all stages of life yet I’ve found I’ve been reluctant to do the same.
I decided to change that last week. Valentine’s Day was upon us and so many women feel unworthy, unattractive and just not where they should be and I’m no exception.
Age, weight gain and life in general had pulled me back from following through with my advice to others. How could I ever convince others if I could not convince myself?
I had strange challenges that wouldn't happen in a regular session, getting up on the ladder to make adjustments, barefoot in a dress and simple battery challenges. I was out of triple As that are needed to trigger the camera remotely.
I tried to steal some from other electronics around the studio only to find more battery corrosion than I’d ever imagined was coexisting with me!
It took two days to get all in place and as I worked through the problems, the challenges spurred me forward.
You can see the remote trigger in my left hand but here we are, a portrait of me, encouraging you, to find yourself, in front of my camera.
