Our friend Ian over at Vulture Motor Works is building some very nice BMW motorcycles. He was kind enough to share some finished photos of two projects we had the pleasure of helping out with.
The 1981 R100S Bobber features some fabrication work by RACE Metalsmiths on the custom solo seat mount in addition to the relocated shock mounts.
Both bikes pictured here include powder coated frames and components by us, as well as media blasting on numerous small parts and components.

Freshly refinished Brembo calipers with clear coated lettering, slated for installation on a BMW E46 M3. These calipers were dis-assembled, cleaned, coated and then rebuilt in-house at RACE Metalsmiths using all new seals and components.

This is a restoration project of a solid bronze placard from a General Electric hydro electric generator originally put into service in 1927. RACE Metalsmiths was contracted to restore the placard as part of a full overhaul of the generator that is still in service today. The photos show before, after and a few progress photos of the polishing and masking.

We love it when customers stop by to show off their finished projects. Neil had RACE Metalsmiths powder coat the tank and fenders on his beautiful chopper. The tank and rear fender are done in one of my all time favorite colors, "Moondust Lime" topped off with a geneorous coat of high gloss clear.
This bike also features our Gloss Black on the front fender and other components as well as our High Temperature Exhaust Coating. The Moondust Lime looks awesome in the sunshine! We really enjoyed this project, Thanks Neil!

Another customer submitted set of Jim's Street Glide. One of our specialties at RACE Metalsmiths is blacking out harley chrome. This bike features our signature gloss black and our high temperature exhaust coating.

Customer submitted photos of George's Saab restoration project with underhood components and valve cover powder coated by RACE Metalsmiths. Valve cover in "Candy Blue" with "Super Chrome" lettering. All other parts "Super Chrome".

One new Drift Trike this year, this time for the girls of Nfa Drift Trikes. We had a lot of fun with this one, especially the blinding color scheme, shocker yellow!
This is also the first trike off of our recently completed trike jig, so this album shows some of the steps along the way. Huge thanks to Kalla Robb and Nfa Drift Trikes for letting us have so much fun with these trikes!

This is a recent restoration project for a customer all the way from California. This is the original tag from a 1926 AB Mack Truck. The album has a photo taken before the plate was sent to us, plus some photos of the restoration process. This project required welding and blending of the extra holes, and a bunch of hammer and dolly work including a custom made die to re-form the border bead.
After the initial metal work is complete, we use several coats of primer, hand sanding between each step to reduce the appearance of the rust pitting and to reshape the lettering. When the surface is completely smooth we start with the yellow base color and hand cut the masking for the letters, the green background color is then added and finished off with several coats of high gloss clear.
The process of powder coating and clear coating the tag very closely mimics the original porcelain process that would have been used in the era, a procees we have used here several times in the restoration of other period correct plates.
