Davis Bates Clapp Building (Former YMCA)

The renovations to the historic Davis Bates Clapp Memorial Building are progressing. The staging is being erected at the front of the building to allow for the restoration and repointing of all brick and limestone. The track has been removed from the old gym area and new walls are being built. New dormers are being framed, and once complete, a new roof will be installed. The site work will begin again as soon as the weather allows. Stay tuned....

The first foundations at the Clapp Memorial site located on the rear of the property are set to go in this week; weather permitting. Look for building construction to begin soon.

Work on renovating Clapp Memorial Building into 20 condominiums should get under way during the spring, and the makeover could be done in two years, according to property owner John Deady.

The masonry and soffit repairs have been completed on the northeast side of the building. Many bricks that had been damaged by water and ice have been removed and replaced. Waterproofing has been applied which should help to make the building last another 100 years. Tomorrow the staging will be coming down, the building is now ready for winter.

On Monday night, September 4th the Weymouth ordinance Committe and Town Council vote to approve the zoning change for the Clapp Memorial Building. this will allow us to request a special permit from the Weymouth Zoning Board. thanks to the Planning Board, Ordinance Commitee, Town Council, my friends and family for their support.
