Just wrapped up a full 3D CAD layout for a custom stainless exhaust system going on a CAT 3406.
This setup is being built from the ground up using a mix of sourced stainless material and custom-fabricated components to fit the space properly and keep everything serviceable. Taking the time to model it out first lets me dial in routing, clearances, and overall fit before any material gets cut — especially important on tight engine room layouts like this.
Note: There will be a flex pipe installed directly off the turbo elbow to handle vibration and thermal expansion. I wasn’t able to import the flex pipe file into the model, but it’s accounted for in the design and will be integrated during fabrication.
Service bungs will also be added throughout the system for monitoring exhaust temperature and back pressure — making future diagnostics and performance checks straightforward.
This is the kind of work where planning makes all the difference — clean, functional, and built to last.
