When your measurements don’t match reality, it’s usually not the analyzer. It’s the sample. We see it all the time.

Most of it traces back to poor sample conditioning at the point of measurement.

When signal is lost, when power drops, when something goes wrong — your fuel gas control valve needs to move to a safe position.

For most combustion applications, that means fail-closed.

Here’s the issue:

This gets treated as a default rather than a deliberate specification, and assumed rather than verified.

The actuator is part of the control system, so its behavior under abnormal conditions is as important as its behavior under normal ones.

Specify the fail-safe position explicitly. Then confirm it before the valve ever enters service.

One of the most common control valve mistakes in combustion applications is also one of the most avoidable:

Oversizing.

The instinct is understandable — size for worst case, stay safe.

The problem is, an oversized valve spends most of its life operating near the closed position. And small actuator movements create large flow changes, control becomes coarse, and wear concentrates in a narrow zone of travel.

But proper sizing matches the valve to the actual operating range of your system. Not the maximum capacity on paper. The range the system actually runs in, day in and day out.

The difference shows up in how well your combustion loop holds tuning, especially at low fire.

Contamination in semiconductor processes does not always come from the gas supply. It often shows up at the point of use.

Regulators with higher internal volume, poor surface finish, or the wrong sealing approach can introduce particles or slow down purge efficiency during changeouts.

That is where yield issues start to show up.
