This winter’s project included a major upgrade to the rod holders, and I’m loving the flexibility of the Burnewiin setup. I removed the rails and downrigger mounts, then added three flush mounts along the gunnels and two side mounts at the stern. With this layout, I can position the table on either gunnel or at the back of the boat. The downriggers go in forward mount and are easily removable when not in use.

I deliberated for some time on whether to construct a larger fuel tank. Initially, my boat was equipped with a 30-gallon tank from the factory. Last year, I built a reserve tank prior to my annual Canada Salmon trip. Although it functioned well the one time it was needed, the transfer process from the reserve to the main tank took too long, and I lost floor storage. The new tank provides me with 56 gallons. This project also brings me one step closer to going 40 miles offshore for Halibut next summer.

I got tired of bending over the transom to clean fish. This table slides right into my down rigger mounts. Added bonus it hangs of the side a bit so now I won’t be spraying fish guts and scales all over the motor.

Over the course of the last two days, I have enjoyed some of the most outstanding steelhead fishing of my life, with our group landing a total of 27 fish. Ask for Travis or Gabe. These guys know how to get it done.

Over the course of the last two weeks, my new Dream_catchers_fishing rods have been put through their paces. Despite the softness of the fish bites, we never missed one and still had the needed strength to handle oversized fish with ease. I’m probably going to need another pair to match. Xmas break is a time for checking boat projects off the list. I hated the diamond plate on the front and back just because how slippery it is when it’s wet, which is almost always in the PNW. I’m a big fan is Seadek as you can tell. Thought this went well with the pirate ship theme.

Bleed Bucket Update: It is finally finished. Took way longer than expected but real work kept getting in the way. Finally moved the boat in the shop so I could spend a couple long days on it without being rained on. Ended up pulling about 30 feet of unused wire out of the back of the boat.
