Meet Eric Vettel, P.E.! SW Senior Project Manager in West Palm Beach, FL 🌴

In 2021, Eric joined Simmons & White as a Project Engineer after graduating from The Citadel with a Civil Engineering degree. A Charleston, South Carolina, native, he also played Division 1 football 🏈 for the Bulldogs and shared the college experience with his twin brother, a mechanical engineering major. Family means everything to Eric, who is fortunate to have so many relatives residing in the Charleston Lowcountry.

Eric recently earned his P.E. license and was promoted to Project Manager. He currently has multiple development projects under construction including ‘8111 S. Dixie’ in West Palm Beach, the ‘Residences at Marina Village’ in Riviera Beach, and ‘Port 32’ in Palm Beach Gardens. His day-to-day activities include preparing Site Development Plans, and coordinating with developers, architects, contractors, and site planners throughout the design/permitting, construction, and closeout phases of a project. He also just completed ‘The Hangar at PBIA’ 🛩️ 🚁🏎️ in West Palm Beach which included over 186,000 CF of storage provided in underground stormwater chambers.

Outside of the office, Eric stays extremely active by training in jiu-jitsu, participating in run clubs, regularly competing in marathons and Hyrox races, and testing out bike trails across South Florida. He also meets regularly with a local Toastmasters group to sharpen his presentation skills, travels often, and enjoys a nice sunny day spent at the beach, paddleboarding and at the local green markets. Last summer he completed the Grand Teton Half Marathon with his family and girlfriend in Wyoming, and completed the Half Ironman in Central Florida in December! 🥇

The SW team celebrated the groundbreaking for the first “Class-A” mixed-income development in Riviera Beach—the Residences at Marina Village!

This eight-story public-private development along Broadway Avenue, just steps away from the Intracoastal Waterway, is creating an exciting mixed-use destination in northern Palm Beach County that will provide new opportunities for the local community while energizing this historic corridor.

Meet Tricia Barr, P.E.! SW Senior Project Manager in West Palm Beach, FL 🌴

Tricia has 34 years of engineering experience with 14 at Simmons & White. Inspired by her parents’ STEM backgrounds, Tricia earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Duke University, where she was part of the equestrian team 🐎 and captain of the Duke ‘Dancing Devils!’

She’s had an extensive career in South Florida that has included some historic projects. As part of the response team to the Turkey Point and Cutler Power Plants after Hurricane Andrew, she helped guide an explosive demolition on a compromised chimney for FPL. On the flip side, she now focuses on traffic signal systems that can weather Florida’s toughest storms, managing Palm Beach County’s Annual Traffic Signal Contract for the past 17 years. She takes great pride in her designs that can be seen at over 100 intersections throughout the County! 🚦🚗🚙

Outside of the office, Tricia has an impressive array of talents and interests that have taken her all over the world. She’s won numerous World Championship Hunter Rider Titles competing in horse shows locally and throughout the country, has traveled throughout Europe and Tanzania (twice!), and recently returned from Tokyo for a Star Wars convention. When she’s back home in Wellington, she never misses a chance to take a Pure Barre class... she’s attended more than 1,200! 🌟

ELEVATED INDUSTRIAL AMENITIES ARRIVE IN PALM BEACH!

Located just north of Palm Beach International Airport in unincorporated Palm Beach County, The Hangar at PBIA & Airfield Park is a newly completed 11.74-acre Multiple Use Planned Development (MUPD) combining luxury private aviation hangar-style garage condominiums with light industrial, vehicle repair, and business park uses.

Cleared in 2023 and completed in June 2025, the development features four hangar buildings totaling approximately 161,000 square feet within a privately gated area that includes an exclusive owners’ lounge, boardrooms and amenities. Each hangar condominium, ranging from 1,600 to 4,500 square feet, is fully customizable and equipped with climate control and a private restroom. The site also includes an 84,000-square-foot business park building, internal roadways, and supporting utilities/stormwater infrastructure.

Simmons & White provided comprehensive civil engineering and transportation planning services from project inception through permitting and construction. Services included site plan assistance, stormwater modeling, traffic analysis, utility design, access and AutoTurn studies, U-turn evaluations, construction plan preparation, permitting, and services during construction.

Rob Rennebaum Conquers the Jerdon Mountain Challenge in Extreme North Carolina Heat! 🔥

On July 26th Rob traveled to Old Fort (just east of Asheville) to take on a one-of-a-kind, demanding mountain bike race spanning 27 miles and 3,600 feet of climbing! The course winds through the scenic, rugged terrain of western NC, crossing three peaks—Bergen Mountain, Jerdon Mountain, and Bernard Mountain.🌲⛰️🌲

Race day brought a rare heat wave to the area with temps soaring into the low 90’s—conditions that proved difficult for many local riders but gave Rob, a Florida native, a competitive edge. 🌴🚴🏻🌴 His heat tolerance paid off, securing him a strong 5th place finish in the 60+ age group! 👏

Rob was 1 of 8 riders from who made the trip to compete, which has become a summer tradition for the South Florida mountain biking community. The annual trek is supported and organized by Matt and Julie Goforth of OYM Bike Shop in Lake Park, FL, bringing together riders from across the country for a memorable summer event. ☀️

Meet Jake Uribe, E.I.! SW Project Engineer in West Palm Beach, FL 🌴

Jake joined Simmons & White after graduating from the University of Central Florida (UCF) with his Civil Engineering Degree in 2021. A native of Miami who attended high school in Jupiter, Florida, he was inspired to pursue engineering by his grandfather, a superintendent in the construction industry. As a project engineer, Jake enjoys seeing concepts develop from preliminary designs to completion, like his most recent projects for Mint Eco Car Wash and Garden Station Apartments. He also recently accomplished a major milestone in August of last year when he passed the P.E. exam. 👏

Outside of the office, Jake is an avid reader and skilled video gamer who regularly competes in ‘Street Fighter’ tournaments. He closely follows his favorite Miami sports teams and never misses a chance to tailgate with family and friends at a UCF football game. He also makes time to travel, including visits to NYC and California, as well as shorter trips south to Miami to pick up his favorite slice at Frankie’s Pizza. 🍕
