Nothing beats watching a kid realize they’re allowed to climb up and sit behind the controls. Thanks to everyone who came out to the 5th Annual Big Rigs Family Event in Auburn, NY - days like this are the fun part of the job.

Who knows? We might’ve met a few future Masters of the Craft out there.

Construction is much more than just building things. You're building a career while you're at it.

This is what Careers in Construction Month is all about - and why we spent the day with students at Alfred State’s Wellsville campus. Bring a work ethic and a willingness to learn, and the doors open faster than you’d think.

Thanks to the Alfred State College team for having us!

The next generation of builders is on its way - and we got to meet some of them.

Jody C., Nicholas B., and Emily P. represented DDS at RIT’s Civil Engineering and Construction Industry Career Fair, connecting with students who could be running our jobsites in a few years. To everyone we talked to - we were serious.

Come build a career with us.

Around 200 students joined in on the September trench saferty training. It was filled with hands-on trench box assembly, utility locating, and a hydrovac demo. One goal: everybody goes home safe.

DDS is proud to have joined Capital Region BOCES for Trench Safety Day, and proud of our own Dan J., and Mark P. for spending the day teaching the next generation what this work really takes.

Different paths. Shared roots.

What happens when a former instructor, his students, and a few familiar faces reconnect at DDS?

In the latest episode of Built in Boots, Mark P. sits down with Nick B., Connor C., and Adam W. to talk about their journeys, the connections they've made, and the opportunities ahead.

Tune in to the latest episode. --> https://bit.ly/BIBep3

Heat and pressure melt two sections of plastic pipe into one continuous piece - no fittings, no seams.

It’s how water and gas get to your community, and it has to hold for decades. That’s why our crews get it right the first time.

A rendering showing the end of the project is just the beginning... DDS engineers work out the site plan, the traffic control, and every permit detail before the first shovel moves.

"I get the pleasure of being here every single day, watching these guys work at the highest capacity."

Connor C. is a rotational intern and project engineer on one of our heavy civil sites. Each day gives him a front-row seat to the planning, teamwork, and ex*****on that keeps the job moving.

Water's done. Sanitary's up next, and he can't wait to see it finished. Neither can we.

No room and no shortcuts allowed in tight commerical jobs. We know running utilities through old infrastructure is going to be a challenge, but it's just another Monday at DDS.

The trades are one of the few careers you can start with no experience, get trained and paid along the way, and have room to keep moving up.

We see it all the time: laborers working their way up to foremen running crews, interns becoming project engineers.

There's no single path to building a career in construction. You learn, you grow, and you find where your skills can take you.

Oh, and you don't need to be rough and tough. We like to smile at DDS too.
