Elaine had a few free moments, she has been swamped, and made a decal to upgrade Sewphia to a much higher level. Two decals really, one for each side. Much classier than the ones I had available and previously installed. She now has the sewphisticated look deserved.

A passing thought…

What is true in life…is as well true in Longarming…to some degree for each individual it’s all relative.
Besides being productive, enjoyable, purposeful, another costly undertaking, and occupying what would be in many cases wasted time, it has its different levels of difficult and easy. Like people you know or have known throughout your life they can range from difficult to deal with or easy to deal with, or somewhere in between. Elaine has often said “impossible.” I have not encountered that in Longarming…not sure to whom she was referencing that. But I have identified several levels of both. Remembering that on some days I am the one that defines the level, not the piecer.

The categories or levels are:
Extremely Difficult
Highly Difficult
Moderately Difficult
Somewhat Difficult
Routinely Difficult

Not having ever longarmed via a computer and having done all my projects hand guided not sure if these levels would apply. Being tactile and bodily kinesthetic. The computer tablet connected to my Innova replaces the paper pantographs and gives me the ability to manipulate the piecers quilting pattern choice in numerous ways. The Panto Vision system is one of the main reasons I became so involved in longarming. Unlike a free motion longarmer…my artistic ability is shall we say…” extremely” limited. Having attended many quilt shows to date, I am, at the least, humbled by their artistic talent. Not to mention a little jealous.

In the middle is an average that ventures in between the difficult and the easy. This is where most projects fall. The easy are as frequent as the difficult. With few exceptions, one way or the other, there seems to be a balance in every quilt. Like the difficult…easy has its levels as well.

Routinely Easy
Somewhat Easy
Moderately Easy
Too Easy (Caution kicks in here)
Too Good to be True Easy (Stop what you are doing, something is wrong)

Fortunately, the Too Good to be True and the Extremely Difficult are rare.

Regardless of what category a quilt falls in it is a joy to be a part of its crafting. It has been 15 years since Elaine asked if I wanted to go to a Quilt Show. A point in life where the correct response was “Yes dear.” Little did I know at the time, since retiring, that the voids of purpose, productivity, enjoyment, an almost daily accounting of constructive use of time would be in front of a Longarm…yet another power tool, but here we are. There has been another reward brought on by longarming…the people I have met along the way. They have made it all worth doing, the difficult as well as the easy. I have had many associations with “groups”. The Marine Corps, law enforcement, sales, construction, fire service, occupational training, and now quilters. I have again been blessed…this time with quilters. Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of your quilting journey. Looking forward to more years of doing the difficult, the in between, and the easy at each and every opportunity.

Quilt till you wilt…we do.

It looks like as I approach 2000 longarming projects...I'm gonna get a little help from Sewphia. Here is number one on the new M24.

Houston..."We are a go." "Engage." "Make it So" Or (Sew). Been down since 2/19...but like I said..."I'll be back." Maybe Arnold said it first...but it fits the moment.
First let me give a shout out to Stacy and Jason from Sew'n Place in Fayetteville, PA. Just when you think that customer service and professionalism is in the past...POW...look who shows up. Courteous, efficient, professional, knowledgeable, in tune with, in this case, my needs. If you are in their area, pay Sew'n Place a visit. If you are in PA and are considering an INNOVA Longarm...give them a call. Let me be clear about INNOVA. I am not into computer generated quilting...I am, and if the one in charge allows it...I will always be a hand guided, pantograph based longarmer. I can't speak for their computer driven system. I would have to do some serious research, one of my brothers and his wife operate their quilting needs with a Bernina Q-24 and swear by it. If there are people in this world that have my attention they are my brothers.
Thirteen years I longarmed on an INNOVA 22" Classic mounted to a 12' Pro Frame. The foot print for the new M 24 Pro Frame is the same, but there are some differences to get used to in the frame and the machine. Some very good, some not so much. This is one of those situations where I am going to have to adapt. The M Series is proprietary...industry standard items aren't compatible. Adapting started yesterday on a practice quilt. It went fairly smoothly with some minor "swearing" involved. Naturally I dropped a bobbin and it rolled under the long arm. For 13 years I've used an M Standard steel bobbin...with magnet in hand easily retrievable The INNOVA M Style bobbin...aluminum...not so easy. Amazon doesn't have everything, as well as U-Line, Grainger or anyone else for that matter...they don't make an aluminum magnets. I'm going to have to teach one of the Corgis' to fetch said bobbin. Like that would happen...they'd eat it and then off to the Vet we go.
Will be loading the first quilt today. Based on yesterdays exercise not looking for any major disasters. One thing that was impressive. Thread tension. Like the Classic, it was about a five minute ordeal to attain an acceptable result. I used a white bobbin and a black top thread, adjusted the bobbin to match my long time bobbin tension via Towa Gauge, ran a stitch, made two adjustments on the machine's tension assembly...and off to the races. On the classic, once I changed from the then OEM Tension Assy. to the High Performance Tension Assy...it was a rare occurrence when I had to make an adjustment. It appears that will be the case with the M Series as well. The biggest bug-a-boo. Loading the pattern files from a jump drive to the new Surface Pro tablet. Having some difficulties I haven't figured out as yet. May need to contact INNOVA. We'll see. Sew today, the Planet M 24 in the INNOVA Galaxy is well guarded under the watchful eyes of Groot and Sewphia and I are ready to begin a new journey in longarming.
In the meantime...Quilt till you wilt, we do.
Side note...more snow, more cold, and in the middle of the snowiest and coldest winter in my lifetime...but as of now, nothing here like they predicted. But, what's new. Weather prediction is the only science that needs a lot of help. Mother Nature needs to get a Smart Phone so she can be contacted...and we know that's not gonna happen.

Like me...retired. Will be removed and new Innova M-24 will be delivered and set up tomorrow. I'm on pins and needles. Pun intended. Long time coming, huge investment, and can't wait to start on the queue of quilts at the ready. I want to thank all of you that have trusted in me to longarm your quilts, quilt projects and allowed me to be a part of your quilting journey. I have had the privilege of longarming for quilters from PA, VA, MD, NY, DE, NC, SC, FL, and TX. What started out as an experiment in terror, turning into a very rewarding hobby, has now become a business and personally a passion that has given me friendships, acquaintances, and rewards beyond belief. I had a very successful career, since long retired. But even that, in comparison, to working with quilters can compete with the joy and purpose longarming has brought to me in these last 13 years and hopefully another decade at least. Looking forward to another productive and rewarding year and beyond with you all.

Okay...one more time. We had to revise our Fee Schedule, yet again. We found more savings to pass on to those familiar and to those new to our service. As well, we believe it is less confusing as to those quilts that fall into the labor only charge that includes our stocked batting. Let us know your thoughts. Quilt till you wilt, we do.

We finally broke down…had to…buying a new longarm and needed the business to write off the new machine. Beginning on January 21st, 2026, the effected changes are posted on our website www.wequilt.org

Welcome to We Quilt LLC.
Yes, our longarm pricing went up…but not because of new equipment, but materials like thread, batting, needles, electricity, it all has gone up. Although for 2025 we were able to go back to 2020 pricing, celebratory on our part. We can’t absorb all of these increases with 2020 pricing in 2026. We’ve celebrated long enough. But we can adjust how we can keep our pricing as low as possible for the quilter by absorbing the cost of our stocked batting for quilt projects up to 102” in length…with our ability to longarm quilts up to 124” wide. Beyond the 102” you can supply the appropriate length batting, or we will order as needed…we are required to charge PA 6% sales tax. More than 90% of our longarming is at or less than the 102” length limit @ the .0250 per sq. in. fee.

We honestly believe we have come up with a viable option that we can afford to pass on due to now having some avenues for wholesale pricing. Even though the batting has made significant increases since 2021, only now are we seeing some relief. We can absorb the increases and supply our stocked batting at no charge to the quilter…our Longarming Fee Schedule is for labor, regardless of batting needs. Some are more laborious than others, but they all give purpose and feeling of accomplishment when it comes off the machine.
When compared to other longarm operators with 2026 pricing…we know we are very competitive and passing on a viable savings to the quilter.

Our Fee Schedule for 2026 was calculated numerous times…finally we think we got it right. As now a business, not a hobby, we need to make a profit…but not a killing. We sincerely hope this is advantageous to you, our quilting family, whether new or regular quilters allowing us to be part of your quilting journey.

Original 2026 Fee Schedule: Example - 60x80 Top or 4800 Sq.in. 0250 per square inch:
$120.00
Batting 66” wide (96” or 108” Stocked) @ .25 cents per linear inch
$16.50
Total Due $136.50

We found a way to pass on some savings.
New 2026 Fee Schedule: Example – 60x80 Top or 4800 Sq. in.0250 per square inch $120.00
Total Due $120.00

We really wanted to pass on savings to our quilters that have allowed us to be a part of their quilting journey, something to say thank you. To those new that select our service, thank you as well. We hope this feels as good for you as it does for us.
This is something we want to continue beyond 2026. We are optimistic about the future and confident that it will get better over the next few years and we may even be able to do more.
Both Elaine and I thank you all for the joy and love we share with you whether crafting, sewing and for me longarming your projects for family, friends, organizations, non-profits, veterans and a slew of others that are kept warm under a quilt. Once we get the new machine up and running, we’ll post photos. Of course, it takes several weeks (forever) once ordered…I feel like a 7 year old in late December, “is it Christmas yet?”

A great big thank you for those who have submitted their Christmas projects already. I still have a few openings but will stop taking Christmas projects on 11/15 if "before Christmas" is required. As usual it will be a busy month mixed in with Thanksgiving and the upcoming Christmas holiday routines. May this holiday season find you and yours in good health, filled with joy and success today and in the prosperous years ahead.
