Ever wonder what happens to all the scraps from sawing? Here you go! We get to enjoy giant bon fires when the weather permits. This was back in May. It's been so dry this summer we haven't had another chance to burn. Hopefully we can get some rain and have another clean up day!

Maybe we should make DaVinci our official mascot! This guy just wants to help! 😆 What a goober.

Here's a little project we got to be a part of! The customer wanted hemlock beams for a garden border. We sawed custom 8x8 beams and delivered them to Jodi. This sturdy border is beautiful and will last for years to come!

Thoughts on a Father’s Day.

This picture was from this spring but it marked a vivid thought process. I had to do the breaks on our suburban and I realized that I might have some on the old retired suburban. I’m using it as a mill shed right now, lol. Come to find out, I had just done calipers, pads and rotors on the old plow truck before I decided to be done with it. Trying to be frugal and pinch pennies where we can, I was pretty happy.

The moment came when I had both vehicles jacked up and I had to grab the skill-saw to cut a chunk of wood to use as a block to push the pistons back in. I just got a kick out of myself finding a way to use woodworking tools as I’m doing mechanic work. My mind went to, wow, I’m quite the blend of high end cabinet maker with a dose of get it done, make it work farmer.

Now my father and my father in law have both passed on to glory and wow do I miss them more than ever. I can’t be grateful enough for how meticulous my dad was and what I learned from him, and also over the years learning from my father in law working on the homestead and helping him with the farm equipment. I was smiling thinking about how I’m quite a blend of the two of them. I then grabbed my boys and had them come down and help me finish up the job as I shared stories from times past about their grandfathers.

It was a somber and joyous time! It’s crazy to think I’m stepping into my father’s shoes as I fill that role for the next generation. Some pretty big shoes to fill!

“Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭78‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭ESV‬‬
