We recently made a huge purchase of steel from a company that was going out of business. After a couple weeks of making trips back and forth to the purchase location, we finally have all of that steel here and there's a LOT of it!

There's so much that we're hurting for space, so we're going to have a sale like never before!

For smaller amounts it's going to be the usual $1/pound.

If you buy 500 # or more in a single visit it'll be $0.75/pound.

Here's the real deal for anyone looking to stock up! If you purchase 5000 # or more in a single visit, I'll let it go for $0.50/pound! If you can't haul that much at once you can make multiple trips as long as you select and pay for all of the material in one transaction.

Obviously, picking out and loading 5000 # of steel would take some time and effort so if you intend to take advantage of this deal, please make an appointment to do so. This will only be available while supplies last. I don't know if it's going to be 1 day or a month, but when it gets to the point where we're back down to a more reasonable level of inventory, I'm going to pull the plug on this level of pricing and will update this post at that time.

The weight can either be calculated using a steel book, determined with scales, or a combination of the two methods depending on what works best.

5000 # may seem like a lot, but we are talking about steel. Much of what we just picked up are brand new, full-length sticks of very heavy material.

I'm not going to list it all because that would take way too much time, but here are some examples of what we have here at the time of this posting:

A 20' stick of 1" X 12" flat that weights 816 # by itself, plus another slightly shorter one that I haven't calculated but figure is in the 700+ # range.

Several 1.5" rounds that are 120 # each.

Several sticks of 4" X 4" X 1/2" angle that comes in at 256 # per stick.

Several sticks of 6" X 4" X 3/8" angle weighing 246 # per stick.

At least 6 sticks of 3" X 1-1/2" X 1/4" rectangular tube at 150 # per stick.

A 4' X 10' X 1/2" plate weighing 815 # and a 4' X 8' piece at 652 #.

A couple large pieces of 3/8" plate and some 1/4" plate that I'm happy to calculate the weight of at the time of sale.

Several different sizes of square and rectangular tube, much of it 1/4" wall.

A large variety of flat stock, round stock, and some square.

Several different sizes of pipe.

We're still sorting through much of this material, so who knows what all we're going to find as we get it more organized and/or sell the top layers.

The above pricing applies as long as it's steel and doesn't fall into the following categories: DOM, expanded, perforated, or items that are in our itemized inventory.

Nearly everything in the pictures is included. Any exceptions that can be seen in a picture will be listed individually in the captions.

We also still have some inventory from that sheet sale we ran a while back. I have since learned that it's actually "aluminized" rather than "cold-rolled". This is a higher quality material that is very resistant to corrosion. I'm keeping the pricing the same despite finding out it was better material than I thought (unless you're trying to TIG weld it . . . this is how a customer helped me discover that it wasn't what I originally thought!).

The aluminized sheet is available as follows:

20 gauge - 28" X 28" pieces, $10 each
20 gauge - 4' X 10' sheets, $80 each
18 gauge - 4' X 10' sheets, $100 each
16 gauge - 48" X 56" pieces, $60 each
16 gauge - 4' X 10' sheets, $120 each

All pricing is pre-sales tax. If you are exempt from paying sales tax, please bring the proper documentation to verify this unless we already have it on file.

Local or company checks and cash are the only forms of payment we accept, no cards or apps.

Thank you for your interest!

Back with another load, same deal as I posted yesterday. I'll be around the shop until 7:30 again this evening unloading and organizing. Feel free to stop by and make my job easier by buying it right off the truck or trailer!

This stuff is too long to be moving around twice by putting it on the scales so my plan is to use the steel book to calculate the weight unless you prefer to see the actual weight on a scale.

Two more loads of steel have been hauled to the shop. I'm not even going to call what we brought here yesterday and today drops, most of what we're getting in this batch is brand new, full sheets/sticks in a huge variety!

I'm going to be at the shop unloading the truck until 7:30 this evening. If you want to come help me out by buying some of it right away, I'll be happy to sell any of the steel at $1/ # for any amount less than 500 #. If you want more than 500 # I'll go $0.75/ #. Most of it is steel, but there are some oddball materials that I'll be sorting out later. As always, it's local checks or cash only, we don't mess with cards or apps!

Tomorrow I have to pick up another load, but once I'm back with that, and probably Sunday too I'll be running the same deal.

If you're interested then stop by. If the box truck is backed up to the upstairs garage door, then I'm still unloading it. Once it's parked in the shop, I'm done with it until I'm back tomorrow afternoon. I'll gladly take a break from lugging this stuff around to talk to someone who actually makes the trip over, but I'm not answering messages or the phone for the next 4 hours so that I can focus on unloading as much of this as possible. I have to have the truck empty by Monday morning for yet another load!

I'm only posting these updates to people who already follow us for now. Once it's all here we'll be boosting ads to try to move it quickly. I haven't figured out where it's all going to fit yet so better your shops than mine!

Fresh drops!

We just picked up another big batch of drops. What's pictured here is just from the first load. We'll be picking up the rest next week.

If you want to swing by and pick through the first batch, feel free to stop by during regular business hours or by appointment.

We're still selling steel drops for $1/pound. Stainless and aluminum drops go for $2/pound.

I haven't even gone through all of this stuff yet, so I don't even know what's all there, but it looks like a lot of good stuff!

We're finding ourselves doing more and more powder coating of larger items that are too big for conveyorized systems or smaller start-up shops that haven't pulled the trigger on a big oven yet.

Here are some pictures of recent projects that we are suited to do very well that smaller shops can't handle and bigger shops often times don't want to bother with.

Just to save everyone some time, we're still not interested in coating automotive/motorcycle wheels or other small parts that demand a flawless finish (were an industrial coater, not a high-end wet paint shop). The finish we get is very good, and very durable, but it's not uncommon for there to be minor flaws in the finish. If that's the sort of thing that's going to cause you to insist that we strip and respray the entire part, then you're better off taking your job somewhere that focusses on the fancy, show-quality stuff . . . that's just not our thing.

We will do automotive frames and other related components, but if we do so we'll insist on either steam cleaning and/or pre-baking them to remove all the greasy/sticky stuff that may be on them. If we don't do that our media, which we reuse from job to job, will become contaminated and cause issues on subsequent job until it clears out of the system. Sometimes this can take several days and slows us down/frustrates us substantially!

If you think you've got a project we could help you out with, feel free to message, call, or stop in! No firm quotes will be given without seeing the job in person so if it's not too difficult to transport it's probably best to just bring it over so we can see what we're dealing with.

MID-WINTER SURPLUS STEEL SALE!!!

We still have some of the sheets of cold-rolled draw quality sheet steel that we purchased at an auction so we can offer these prices while supplies last.

Here's a list of sizes and prices:

28" X 28" X 20-gauge sheets, $10 each
4' X 10' X 20-gauge sheets, $80 each
4' X 10' X 18-gauge sheets, $100 each
48" X 56" X 16-gauges sheets, $60 each
4' X 10' X 16-gauge sheets, $120 each
4' X 10' X 11-gauge sheets, $150 each

These prices do not include sales tax, which will be added unless proper exemption/resale documentation is provided.

We have also purchased quite a bit of misc. steel drops including partial sheets and bar stock at a couple more recent auctions that is available by the pound.

Steel, including some tool steel, is $1/pound

Aluminum blocks that are evenly shaped/easily machinable are $2/pound

Oddball blocks of aluminum that would be more difficult to use completely are $1.50/pound

Stainless steel is $2.00/pound

If you buy any combination of material by the pound adding up to $100 we'll throw in another $20 worth of material by the pound.

Business hours are 7:30 to 4:30. I'm also available by chance or appointment outside of business hours so feel free to send a direct message rather than a comment if you are interested in setting up an appointment.

New blast cabinet up and running!!!!

We've added to our collection of blast equipment available for rent! This machine has been in operation for a couple months, but I wanted to make sure we had the bugs worked out of it and upgraded the window to include a roll/film system to keep the glass nice and clean. It's available for the same $50/hour as our old cabinet was. The rate is the same but you get much more for your money due to all of the ways this cabinet is better than our old one:

#1 - It's got ground level access with no need to climb up stairs to use it.
#2 - Much higher volume of dust collection that is downdraft and continuously pulls both the media and the dust out of the bottom of the cabinet so you're not blowing media from the bottom of the unit back up into the air.
#3 - Not only does the dust collection system move more air, but it also does a better job of separating the dust from the media so what's coming out of the nozzle is cleaner media, which means less haze caused by dust to contend with.
#4 - Larger blast nozzle to send more media flying at your parts than before. We could get away with just running the small compressor with the old cabinet . . . not with this one!
#5 - It has a blowdown valve built into the control system which means that when you take your foot off the pedal it very quickly dumps all the pressure out of the blast pot and allows for the media that has been collecting above it to quickly make its way into the pot for less down time.
#6 - Speaking of the grates, they're much heavier and cover the entire area of the inside of the cabinet so larger/heavier parts will fit in there.
#7 - The foot pedal is wider and is attached directly to the base of the cabinet, so it doesn't move around on you while you're blasting.

No, our old cabinet is NOT for sale!!!! In the near future we'll be switching out the media in that unit to glass beads, so we'll have that option readily available as well.

If you've got anything that needs blasting let me know. We still offer both full-service and self-service options. We don't offer on-site blasting though, only in-house.

SHEET METAL SALE!!!

We recently purchased several tons of cold-rolled draw quality sheet steel at an auction so we can offer these prices while supplies last. Once it's gone it's gone so don't wait too long!

Here's a list of sizes and prices:

28" X 28" X 20-gauge sheets, $10 each
4' X 10' X 20-gauge sheets, $80 each
4' X 10' X 18-gauge sheets, $100 each

These prices do not include sales tax, which will be added unless proper exemption/resale documentation is provided.

We also purchased quite a bit of misc. steel drops including partial sheets and bar stock that is available by the pound. There's too much variety to list on that so you'll just have to come check it out if you're interested.

Business hours are 7:30 to 4:30. I'm also available by chance or appointment outside of business hours so feel free to send a direct message rather than a comment if you are interested in setting up an appointment.

Inventory update!

I ordered extra to get a better price and am passing the savings on to anyone interested in taking advantage. Brand new, still oily, 4' X 8' X 18 gauge cold-rolled sheets. At the time of this posting I've got 9 sheets available at $125 each. This price includes sales tax.

Willing to wheel and deal a bit if you take them all and will include the pallet in that case as well.

Steel drops are now available whenever we’re open!

In an effort to keep the main floor shop as clean as possible we’ve dedicated some floor space upstairs to the sales of our steel drops by the pound on an ongoing basis. Shelves have been set up, pallets and bins have been loaded with additional material, another scale has been added, and it’s all been organized to be available for sale any time we’re open for business. This is mostly NEW steel that is either left over from longer pieces or it came from jobs that didn’t quite go as planned. Sometimes the wrong material gets ordered and cut/formed. Sometimes bends get made in the wrong places. Sometimes we have to sacrifice material in order to set up machines for longer runs. Rather than scrap it out at a major loss we’d rather put it in the hands of people who can use it at a reasonable price.

All the steel pictured is available for $1 per pound but right now, for every 100 pounds you buy we’ll throw in another 20 pounds for free. That’s 120 pounds for $100. Tax is included in that price so it’s even money. Cash or local checks only as we do not accept cards or cash app payments. Once we get down to a more reasonable level of inventory the price is going to be $1/pound regardless of the amount purchased. What that means is yet to be determined, but the goal is to get it down to just the racks and the bins tucked under the pallet racking. Of course, more material will be added as we continue to take on new projects and provide fabricated pieces for our regular customers.
As always, full-length sticks and sheets are available to order as well!

If we don’t have what you need on hand, we’re happy to quote it and order it for you if you like the price. We can typically get steel orders within a day or two depending on what you’re looking for. Loading is always included as long and you are properly equipped for hauling (Interesting as it would be, I’m not going to set a 2000 # stack of steel on the roof of your car!).

When you purchase full sticks of anything we’ll make up to 2 cuts per stick at no additional cost in order to make it easier for you to transport. Those cuts can be wherever you like. If you know how long you need some of the parts to be we’ll take the extra time to save you some later. For an additional fee we’re happy to provide you with as many pieces as you’d like cut to length if you’d rather have us do some of the grunt work for you. We’ve got multiple saws available to make a variety of cuts and can do automatic cutting of bundles if high volumes of short pieces are required.

There’s more than just steel available. One of the shelves has aluminum and another has stainless steel. Those I’ll let go for $2/pound. There are also some larger, old, painted or powder coated pieces that I’d let go for $0.25/pound or less if you make a reasonable offer.
