The team at Jack's tool Monday afternoon as an in-service day to paddle a lap around Gull, Higgins and Williams Ponds, looking for trash and just checking in on conditions. The ponds are all in good shape, though there is a lot of deadfall along the perimeter left over this past winter's storms. We also brought home 4 beer cans, some plastic food containers, a spoon, a plank and a juice pouch.

To our paddling friends and customers: The Ponds are fragile. Please carry out everything that you carry in. If you see someone else's trash, consider taking that out, also. Here's to protecting and preserving our ponds! Thanks for your help.

At the end of a lovely day on the outer Cape, our boatyard fills up with boats that were returned by customers. Everything gets washed before they go back out to the next customers. Hurrah for boat hands!

Meet Evan - the youngest member of our rock star 2026 team at Jack's Boat Rental. Even is a rising junior at Nauset Regional High School. He lives in Orleans with his mom, 2 of his brothers and 4 dogs (Max, Monceaux, Molly, and Ludo.) Evan is the Treasurer of his high school class and is on the wrestling and lacrosse teams. In cooperation with the Town of Wellfleet, we can now deliver boats to Gull Pond. If you do go to Gull Pond, we will hand you one of these cards. Gull Pond is beautiful but quite sensitive - please follow these guidelines to ensure that everyone can continue to enjoy Gull Pond for years to come. Thank you!

Say hi to our shop Manager, Francis (everyone else calls him Frankie). Francis is returning to Jack's for his third summer - his first as Manager, and we're thrilled to have his experience and his calm efficient demeanor around the shop for another season. Francis is a rising senior at Florida Southern University, studying Marine Biology with a special interest in sharks. He has two younger brothers and a younger sister. Francis loves to fish - and he is a budding entrepreneur making his own line of lures specifically designed for fishing on the Cape. Say hi to Francis when you stop in, and don't be shy about asking Francis about fishing on the Cape, or best practices for using our fishing kayaks.

Meet Claudia - part of our rock-star team for 2026! Claudia is a rising senior at American University where she studies Political Science. She plans to go to law school. Claudia plays basketball and rugby at school, and loves paddleboarding and fishing while on the Cape. She has three younger brothers, and they have two dogs, Maple and Oakley. June is a great month to enjoy the kettle ponds before the crowds arrive. And we have FREE DELIVERY to Wellfleet's Long Pond!

We are super excited to now have permission from the Town of Wellfleet to deliver and pickup boats at Gull Pond. Our friends who do not have a vehicle, or cannot lift/carry/transport a boat by themselves, or have other restrictions that prevent them from enjoying a boat out on Gull Pond now have the option to paddle or sail on Gull Pond this summer. Our great boathands will bring you a boat, help you launch, and then drive it away when you are done enjoying your adventure.

All rental activity has to happen between 10 AM and 4 PM, and rentals are restricted to a maximum of 3 hours per rental. Please avoid all private property, all vegetated shoreline areas, and especially avoid the very fragile sluiceway between Higgins and Williams Ponds.

Thanks to the Wellfleet Selectboard and the Town Administrator for allowing us this access. Gull Pond is special - let's enjoy it while also protecting and preserving it. See you this summer!

Our sunfish dollies were a huge help at Jack's Boat Rental last summer (and our customers bought them all by the end of the season), so I spent the last few days making 12 more of them before heading to the Cape. If you rent a sunfish from Jack's, we'll lend you a dolly to help move the boat around.
