Rich insisted on wearing his Mayberry shirt, after taking a shower….. some people are so goofy. 😂😂😂 I have him walk to the kitchen for his pills daily, yeah, I could hand them to him, but this way kills two birds with one stone. Medicine and exersice. Win/win.
He was not improving in hospital, but is making great strides at home. Even emptying his own catheter bag. If you know Rich, you know he has a super strong gag reflex, he’s thrown up thinking of s**t, at crap on tv, at fake dog doodoo, and once at a twisted leaf on the sidewalk. He gags brushing his teeth! So, being able to handle this, is a major hurdle.
The week he spent in hospital, was totally wasted recuperation time.
After a few days, I began leg lift exercises with him. He said, I can’t. I said, you’re going to. Eventually, he was lifting them unassisted, within a couple sessions in one day. I had therapist, Doctors and nurses observe to make sure what I doing was beneficial, and not detrimental.
They all agreed, my prodding, encouraging and physically aiding, just enough to get his confidence up was great. Almost all jokingly said, I needed a job there, and encouraged him to take heed and listen.
Yesterday home nurse and physical therapy visited. Of course, Rich knew the therapist. He knew everyone from the ambulance driver, maintenance worker, custodian, transporter, to nurses and aids. He knows EVERYONE.
When the therapist left, he said with a chuckle, “after being here, I think you two should charge admission”. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The issue now is getting his bladder/kidneys working properly and emptying fully. Everything else is going great. ♥️
