ONE YEAR AGO TODAY - SEPTEMBER 16 , 2025 - Assemblyman John T. McDonald III, Senator Jacob Ashby and Mayor Charles Patricelli presented DOUGLAS INDUSTRIAL COMPANY with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation And Historic Preservation's designation as an HISTORIC BUSINESS.

We are very fortunate to be included with the other businesses that have received this prestigious designation. In order to qualify for this designation a business must meet certain criteria. The key provision is that a company must have been in business for at least 50 Years.

(Special Thanks to the entire staff from Assemblyman McDonald's Office. Absolutely a very professional and helpful group!!! They submitted the paperwork and received the approval from NYSPR&HP for our Designation.!)

TREE CITY USA

For eight years the City of Watervliet, NY has held the distinction of being an official Tree City USA participant. Back in 2017 on Arbor Day the first of 404 trees have been planted through the years by the Watervliet Tree Committee. 23 more trees are scheduled to be in the end of the year. The Committee is starting to prepare their package for a nine year recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation.

Mayor Charles Patricelli working with the city council members and the city employees a few years ago placed new "Welcome to Watervliet" signs at entrances to the city. (VERY FORWARD THINKING). The Watervliet Tree Committee for the last few years has taken up the task to update and keep the area around the signs looking good.

We caught up with a few of the Committee members this morning working on the sign across from Douglas Industrial to say "Thank You" for their service. Every little bit helps. Special Thanks to Daniel McGrath, (Certified Arborist), Barbara Diamond (Long serving community volunteer and former Councilwoman), and Paul Farr (Great example of a Good Neighbor and long serving volunteer) All three - Volunteers that put effort to make our city shine!

One of the Area's Finest CAR SHOWS. The Adirondack Nationals Car Show was held in luxurious Lake George. The Classic Car paradise. September 10 - 13, 2026 was another GREAT weekend to remember.

Douglas Industrial Company's own - SHAWN O'NEILL is a major participant each year. Along with his wife Jennie, daughters KayLeigh and Sarah the entire weekend is full of fun and sharing great memories. The Best memories were made cruising the strip with his grandkids.

Many have enjoyed the natural beauties of upstate New York. This past Spring we have been fortunate enough to have an Eagles nest appear in our community. In the old train yard that runs along Lincoln Avenue on on the north side nearest HWY 155 a sole light pole has become a home for eagles. Starting in early Spring big limbs began appearing at the top of the light pole. Over the course of many days four beautiful adult eagles could be seen flying though the small valley that makes up the old long forgotten train yard. Finally, throughout the Spring and all Summer many at the Watervliet Arsenal and all of us here at Douglas Industrial have enjoyed watching eaglets and full grown parents soar through the skies above us.
