🔧 Most plumbing leaks are NOT fixed by adding more plumber’s tape. 👀

Plumber’s tape (PTFE tape) has a specific job: it helps seal and lubricate tapered threaded pipe connections so the threads tighten together properly.

But here’s where people get it wrong:

🔵 Threaded pipe fitting: plumber’s tape ✅
⚪ Slip-joint fitting under a sink: the washer makes the seal — no tape needed
🔩 Compression fitting: the ferrule/compression surface makes the seal — not the threads

Another tip: wrap the tape in the same direction the fitting will tighten, and keep the very end of the pipe thread clear so loose tape doesn’t get pushed into the line.

So if a connection is still leaking after five layers of tape… the tape might not be the problem. 😂

🎨 If you’ve ever grabbed “whatever roller looks right”… you’re not alone 😂

That fuzzy thickness is called the nap, and the surface you’re painting determines which one you should use:

▫️ 3/16” — smooth surfaces
▫️ 3/8” — semi-smooth walls & ceilings
▫️ 1/2” — semi-rough surfaces
▫️ 3/4” — rough surfaces
▫️ 1-1/4” — extra-rough surfaces like brick, block & heavy texture

Easy rule to remember:
The smoother the surface, the shorter the nap.
The rougher the surface, the longer the nap.

A longer nap helps paint reach into dips and texture, while a shorter nap gives smoother surfaces a cleaner finish.

So yeah… there actually IS a reason there are 20 different rollers staring at you from the shelf. 😂
