Team Member Spotlight: Josh M.

Josh started with Crum in 2017 as an entry level CAD designer. Over the last 5+ years he has developed his own skills and jumped at any opportunity take on more responsibilities. Currently, Josh is a Mechanical Engineer in our automation department, while also training and developing our younger designers as the Engineering Team Lead. Josh learned valuable problem solving and leadership skills during his time serving in the United States Marine Corps, making him an integral member of the Crum team. Outside of work, Josh enjoys cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes, golfing, fishing, and spending time with his wife and 3 children. Thanks for all you do, Josh!

Today we held a celebration and bid farewell to Marty H. as he has officially retired! Marty has been a valued and dedicated member of the Crum team for 19 years. During that time he has taken on several roles, including as a CNC mill and lathe programmer/operator, where he specialized for many years. Marty has always set a great example for the rest of our team with his dedication and leadership, and will be truly missed. Congratulations, Marty! We wish you all the best in the future!

Crum Manufacturing Inc. currently has a position open for a dynamic Office Administrator/Purchasing Coordinator. This person must have well-rounded experience, and embody strong people, communication and organizational skills. The candidate must be familiar with general office tasks, purchasing, general accounting knowledge, shipping/receiving and have some experience with H.R. fundamentals.

General Office – Records, A/R, A/P

Various office and administrative duties including answering phones, mail, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and credit card statement reconciliation.

HR – Orientation of new employees, Maintaining records, Training

Onboarding new employees, prepare weekly payroll information, maintain various employee records, attendance tracking, training, re-certifications, and benefit activities.

Purchasing – Purchase Orders, Bill of Materials

Prepare RFQs for materials needed, place Purchase Orders. Communicate with departments on their purchasing needs, and research items when necessary.

Shipping/Receiving – Domestic and International

Prepare daily shipping documentation, both domestic and international. Coordination and distribution of orders received.

Job Prerequisites

-4-year degree preferred

-Purchasing /H.R. / Shipping /Accounting Experience Preferred

-Excellent communication & Organization skills

-$22+ per hour, dependent upon education and experience

Employee Spotlight:

Joe S. has made great strides in adding value to Crum Mfg. as well as expanding his own work skillset. Joe began his employment with Crum as a welder and fabricator in our automation department. After two successful years, Joe decided he wanted to become a CNC Machinist. To do this, Joe utilized the Crum Mfg. Tuition Reimbursement Program and enrolled himself in machining classes at Owens Community College. Tuition reimbursement is one of many benefits offered to Crum employees. Upon completion of his classes, Joe was immediately positioned into our CNC department where he hit the ground running with skills to operate both CNC lathes and mills.

Robotic Machine Tending
The Challenge:

After the 2020 slow down, our customer needed to get production back up to speed to stay competitive in the market. Solving capacity challenges and labor shortages without sacrificing quality proved a difficult task.

The Solution:

Our automation team designed a machine tending application equipped with a Universal Robots UR5e collaborative robot. The robot is able to load and unload parts from pre-loaded trays into a testing machine. After loading the trays the operator is free to be utilized in another area. Our customer was able to increase production and improve overall quality. A true homerun!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT!!

Pictured above is William McGilvery, the first ever and longest running Crum Manufacturing employee! William began his career with Crum at 17 years old (swipe to 2nd picture) and is now working on his 33rd consecutive year of employment! Throughout the entirety of Williams career, he has led by example and has taken great pride in quality of work and the safety of himself and his fellow coworkers. William consistently demonstrates initiative, a positive attitude and work ethic while bringing much value to the Crum Manufacturing team. William, we appreciate you and your consistent efforts in helping Crum be the best that it can be! Outside of work, William enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, especially tournament fishing!
