While we were pleased to share that GYMO had been selected by the Ogdensburg Housing Authority (OHA) for professional Architectural and Engineering services, we did not realize how quickly our services would be needed.
On Tuesday March 8th, Riverview Towers experienced a fire on the sixth floor of their high-rise building. GYMO and OHA simultaneously contacted each other and by Thursday GYMO was mobilized to assist the authority in addressing the wide variety of issues OHA was facing. These issues included assessing any structural damage, getting contractors onsite to get power, fire protection, water, and heat back online after the services were terminated to combat the fire. Other items that needed to be addressed were recertifying the fire alarm and sprinkler system, fire pump system, elevators and electrical and plumbing systems. GYMO assessed the damage on a room-by-room basis for all eleven floors and the basement. GYMO also identified businesses to assist with cleaning and restoration, water mitigation and moisture control, a moving company to move resident belongings for reconstruction activities, an abatement contractor to remediate the fire unit and remove damaged VAT on six floors. GYMO has been onsite every day to manage remediation and keep up on documentation so that the reconstruction stays on schedule to allow residents to reoccupy the building.
